How can I roll back from iOS5 to iOS4?

Hello,

I updated my iPad to iOS5. Although I made a backup of it before, I cannot restore it to iOS4.

How can I do it?

Thanks

Oh ok did not know that. A couple of problems - my phone is now freezing. I google how to sort that out but this has happened a few times since the upgrade. My itunes sync is doing strange things like repeating itself and I am having to restore info and apps - this has also happened 3 times. None of my bluetooth functionality is working anymore, either from one device to another but also and more importantly my hansfree system in my car now no longer works. All round problems never previously encountered on any Mac product and I have an Imac, 3 iphones, ipad, ipod and macbook!! Quite dissapointing to be honest.

I use to use my ipad as a business tool and I used the iPod for my music and lyrics (playing in a solo and duo). I can't understand why the lyric content was taken off the iPad but left on the iPhone?? Now my ipad is useless for work. I've tried restoring it back to it's original settings but I get the same error as clintwild - my device is not elligable to be rolled back!!! Can anyone suggest or has anyone been successful in rolling back their ipad to iOS 4.3.5??

Also, I did visit the Genius Bar (not so genius), and all they could tell me was nothing new, and that they couldn't help in anyway with my request. I find it hard to believe that apple can't even roll back a simple tablet to a previous working iOS. I am a technical consultant and with any new release, there is always a roll back option until those little bugs are ironed out. Not happy at all about this release:(

Apple has never provided a roll back option for iOS.

maybe this is a good time to start thinking about it... If this was to effect apples business and they relied on this technology, this may have a very different outcome as any lose of money would stop even before it would hit the beta stage.

For instance, I have been a PC tech since they bought out the 386x. It has only been in the last 2 years that I have fully converted over to MAC and now have no PC's in or around me, and I love every MAC I own, they just work great. I rely on MAC very heavily, and therefore little bugs like these ones cause so much greif and unnecessary spenditure to fix (such as reprinting every lyric in my repertoire). Such a simple problem as not showing lyrics in a simple Music App on my iPad for my business is causing massive work arounds.

Just my thoughts and thought I would share it:)

My contacts were on MobileMe... A different account than the appleid I had

Here's what I did...

1- I logged to MobileMe and synced the contacts with it, while turning off iCloud completely...

2- after all the contacts were synced on the iPhone/iPad... I went to the mail settings and turned off the contacts syncing with MobileMe... It asked me if I wanted to delete the contacts or keep them on the iPhone/iPad... I chose "keep them"...

3- I then went to the iCloud settings in mail and turned on the contacts syncing... I was asked if I wanted to merge my contacts... I said yes...

4- I waited till the operation was done... And all the contacts that I had in MobileMe (and that I still have) were transferred to icloud account... Without any glitch...

Try it, it would work...

As to restoring, it's not possible if the baseband has been updated and it has been...

I'm not sure you can roll back from 5 to 4.3.5 even if you have the 4.3.5 ipsw...

Give the 5 a shot... It's more than worth it.... Just get used to it... You'll like it 10 times more...

Yes!...there are bugs with this IOS 5! 😠 And i am very upset that Apple would release this trash and stress people out. First....it erases all my apps (although it claimed to have backed up my info) after the upgrade. It also erases some of my music info. Second...it downgraded my signal. I use to get 5 bars, and now it won't go over 3 bars....highly upset! Third, it downgraded the quality of my screen pixels. My screen and photos were clearer with the previous IOS, and now its worse. And you would think that Apple would make it easy for you to roll back to your previous version if you're having problems with the current. This makes me want to move on from Apple....too many problems...from upgrades, to iTunes. UGH!!!!!!! 😠

Hello igmackenzie.

Do you have a Galaxy? Are you happy with it?

I am planning to move too but I do not know it.

Can you synch contacts and calendar between devices (kind of MobileMe)?

Can it be managed from Linux? How reliable is it?

I understood most of the iPhone/iPad apps are also available for Android. Am I right?

Can you develop and run your own apps without going through the store?

I hope you can help me clarifying what the Galaxy actually does.

Thanks
