How can I roll back from iOS5 to iOS4?

Hello,

I updated my iPad to iOS5. Although I made a backup of it before, I cannot restore it to iOS4.

How can I do it?

Thanks

And not one follow up to the several feedback/bug report messsages I've lodged for the bluetooth, the battery life, the loss of data (due to iTunes I suspect). At least I got to enjoy my $800 iPad at full potential for a whole 4 months, so I guess I should feel most fortunate for the priveledge, right?

IOS5 IS A DISASTER GUYS!................FIX IT NOW PLEASE!

Or at least come up with at way to roll back to 4.

What gets me is, not everybody is having issues. So, did I get a crap iPad2? Sometimes, I'd really like to test my outside warranty, that is, if I knew for sure that the new one would have some iteration of IOS4 on it.

For any Apple goons reading this stuff, not that it matters to you (since you already have our money), but I do solemnly swear that, when I get tired of fighting the issues plaguing my iPad2 due to the installation of IOS5 (and then 5.01), I will video the detonation for posterity and purchase a competing device in its stead.

This is wrong. I could not go back to any previous version because I get the error message that my iPhone is not eligible for that version.

I took my phone to the Apple store to have it restored to iOS 4.3.5 and they refused. I asked for a new phone and they said they do not have any phones with iOS 4 on them anymore. They said that once the baseband in the phone is upgraded, it can't be undone.

Maybe this will help somebody. The very bottom line is that we can't roll back: that is why you see the "incompatible version" message. When I did my update, I did not care about it breaking things because I just assumed there would be a way back to version4. I had my backup, what could go wrong? The move to 5, as this forum well knows, has its issues and precludes going back to version 4. I tried to hacksaw my way back into the old version and was unable to do so. So, I dutifully went the Apple store and the Genius suggested to go back to factory defaults (back to 5) but don't restore from my backup. I thought that was pretty stupid but I was desperate. By doing that and waiting for the apps to catch up, my iPad1 is now okay. While I was in the midst of this debacle, I was so incensed that I was unable to roll back I cancelled my new iPhone purchase because, while I love my iPad, I hate not being able to have a usable device at my command. I choose freedom. What is interesting is that my first forray into the world of Apple was not beset by device shortcomings, but pure company policy. We all know Apple is not the only game in town, so I take my chips to another table.

iPads have been around for almost two years. iOS devices since 2007 with the advent of the original iPhone. You have never been able to roll back to a previous version of iOS. That has been known since the beginning. You did your research poorly when you decided to purchase the iPad and you make many assumptions about the device because you have so poorly educated yourself.

Have a care for your derriere as you exit with your chips for another table and the door closes behind you..
