10.0.1 update corrupted media

After updating to 10.0.1 any footage has, what I can only explain as highlight or blacks warning flashes in green, white and red? Its affecting existing projects plus any new media imported into FCPX....

I've updated to Lion just in case that was the problem but still the flashing effects!! I'm fast running out of ideas on how to solve the issue?

Anyone got any ideas?

Hello again

Just thought id add a few images to give an idea of what FCPX is doing to footage. As a side note, the original footage plays just fine in Quicktime and projects render correctly. But in terms of using the software to edit...totaly unusable. Very simply put, you cant see what your editing.User uploaded file

I am running a Mac Pro 2x2.66 Quad core Xeon with NVIDIA GT120 video card (a compatible card according to the apple list) loads of ram, 10.6.8.

Hi Krzysztof,

I'm glad it's just not me! Thats not to say though I'm pleased your having the same problem!!

I've been into the Apple store in Birmingham who had a look at the screen shots and thier opinion was it's not a hardware problem or anything I'm doing wrong, they were adamant its a bug in FCP X and advised me to write Apple and email explaining the situation and showing the screen shots.

I'm happy to do that apart from I cant find the appropriate email address to mail them so I'm going to pop into the store agian today to find out where I send my rant.

My files out the same as they play back in FCP X, plus I cant even back step to 10.0.0 because all the events will not read in 10(I did back up all the events to 2x drives but its affected them all), so all in all its a whole lot of software and work that I cant access.

Let me know if you've had any better luck?

Best

Adrian

Hello Adrian

You can send Apple a bug report here
https://bugreport.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/RadarWeb.woa/wa/signIn . I
sent them lovely screen shots and my System Profile report (just open up
your System Profile App and do a save....it will crank out a fancy file
giving the fullness of what your Mac is....being, doing and not)
Also there is a way to get back to v10. Obviously you need a copy of 10.0
(which one would hope one has) and a little name renaming. So, when V10.0.1
jumped into action it took the previous version of each project added a long
stream of numbers on the end of the file name and plonked it into a folder
named 'old version'. All that you need to do is remove the stream of numbers
and replace the newly created file that v10.0.1 created with this re-renamed
one.......you also have to revert to version 10.0.

Worked for me.

I seem to have the same machine, or at least the same video card......hmmmmm? Maybe a test video card is in order.

Hello Andy

In that i understand that the GT 120 is not the greatest card out there, the images above in my eyes speak of something beyond a good/bad graphics card. I could understand a slow response, a choppy playback maybe a touch of colour inbalance, but what we are experiencing here is far beyong the inherent problems of a low end video card. Also, this card is a FCPX supported option in the specs (though that might not mean much).

Having said all that,I do have a appointment at the apple store today and will ask them to test the card by doing a switch to another card. Will report back.

Just saying.

Like Adrian, I'm glad it's just not me. I have been experiencing this same problem since upgrading to FCP X 10.0.1. I've reinstalled the program, 10.0.1, and trashed the preferences, all to no avail. Clips that viewed fine before the update, now look like the clips pictured above.

This is on an iMac 3.06 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, with a NVIDIA GeForce GT 130 512 MB card... I''m wondering if it has to do with the card... I'm at a loss, and glad to find this problem atleast being discussed here. Guess I'll be sending a bug report to Apple, also.

Good Luck, everyone.

Thanks for the suggestions, my original clips are a combination of MP4 and AVCHD, MTS files. The MP4 files work fine in MPEG-Streamclip. All files were brought in just fine in FCP X 10.0, and continue to import just fine to the current iMovie application.

My thoughts run with what you seem to suggest, that FCP X 10.0.1 doesn't like the NVIDIA cards.
