Okay, my second Apple agent, supposed to be a supervisor, said you have to have WiFi for iMessages to work. That, of course, is not true.
This is a user-to-user forum. Apple doesn't participate here.
Text messages do not take up much space, if they are text only. Images and video do require a lot more memory space.
Ok, my third Apple agent said YES. Using iMessage to send pictures will cost data.
Data and the memory space those items take up are both measured in bytes.
I have unlimited text, but I use iMessage.
Why?
Because MMS isn't included in my unlimited text. I send a lot of pics and I don't get charged with iMessage.
use data for me
faster than standart messages for me
cheaper than standart messages for me
If you're paying for an "unlimited" text plan and a "limited" data plan, there is no advantage for you in using iMessage. Use regulat text messages.
If they are sent as SMS messages, then they are not iMessages.

But they can still be sent as SMS using the same Messages app.
Actually this can be fixed if you don't want to do Imessage (which doesn't seem to be optionable) just turn off your celluar data thing. That's what I did and then it switched to text message mode.
There's an app for that. (: Some 3rd party apps for iMessage are compatible with Android and Symbian. I happened to read this when I was researching iMessage earlier. Check out this CNET article. 🙂
Hi, what about imessage from my daughter in france to my cell or ipad in usa. is that using alot of her data. She only has 200 texts to use.
what is sms messaging? Is that her text account? She only has like 150 texts and she thinks texts are separate from imessage. If not how does she turn off the imessage from using her text account?
Problem is she cant connect to wifi yet and i even bought her the att hot spot plan for wifi. She is near the sea and they must not have att hotspot in la croisic france.
