We use google calendar at my office and share it with our staff. I thought we would be able to sync those calendars with icloud and google. Before icloud, I set up an exchange account on Ipad, iphone, imac and it works well for calendar and email. I thought I could replace that sync with icloud, but it seems to not be designed that way. Should google calendar and gmail users stick with google?
I am looking for similar information. I have used Google calendar in tandem with iCal for quite awhile and it has worked fine with Mobile Me, my iPad, iPhone 3GS, a MAcBook Pro and iMac. All sync flawlewssly together and I have a happy Google calendar in iCal. Now that I have made the conversion to iCloud, all my devices continue to work but iCloud on the web does not recognize the Google calendar? Is there a step that I missed in the conversion from Mobile Me to iCloud? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
I have a different but similar issue. My entire Google calendar was erased after I backed it up to iCloud. Is there anyway to get that backed up information back onto Google?

That's correct, that method connects a Google Calendar to iCal (or Calendar) but does not sync the calendar to any other service. You can also subscribe to a Google calendar on the iCloud Website, that will allow you to see your Google calendar at iCloud.com, but it is still a separate calendar that can be viewed alongside the iCloud calendar.

That's not quite correct (if I read it right) you can connect a Google or iCloud or Yahoo calendar (and many others) at the same time to the iCloud account or to iCal or Calendar as multiple accounts. They are still separate however. Think of it as a calendar condo, 1 building, many residents, no sync 🙂

Sad, that after all this time there is still no good solution on this.
Getting rival vendors to agree on standards, methods and sharing with each other has never been easy.
You've got that right, and what they don't seem to realize is that it makes us (the users) just hate both of them. We're like the kids caught in the middle of a divorce.

-I accept requests via mail
-don't forget to put the sync on: https://www.google.com/calendar/iphoneselect as well as in the various apps.

That's what I suggested earlier in the post, but it's not a sync, just 2 seperate calendars in the same web page.
This didn't work for me. Am I missing a step or something? I followed your link, checked the calendar I wanted, hit save, then nothing. I feel like there's something more, because how does the Google setting know what my iCal account is?

Best $20 I have ever spent. It keeps everything is sync in both places in real time. Every other solution you will see proposed here is a waste of your time and half-assed, at best
Honestly if I knew how crappy Outlook for Mac was and how impossible syncing my Personal (Google) calendar and Work (Outlook 2011 for Mac) calendar was....I'd have stayed on a PC.
