Attached the pdf to an email. email the attached to youself. Open the email (let's say, on your ipad) and download the pdf. Then click on the top right icon that says, open in... I open in iBooks. You now have it on your ipad. You can do the same for your ipod, or iphone. I hope this helps.
Or you can also just get GoogleDocs, Dropbox, MS Skydrive all free and use those. I have all three installed on my Macbook, iPad, and iPhone. Much easier than emailing yourslef the docs and they are all three much eaiser to use than the method above, especially for multiple documents.
I feel really disappointed; I bought a good amount of Icloud storage thinking it would be easy to use, but I realize now that other cloud services work a lot better, most scanners save your documents in PDF format or as an image (jpg, bmp) but PDF is just easier to handle, so I guess I will keep backing up my documents using Skydrive for free...
From preview, go to "File" "Print". Then in the print menu on the bottom left hand side click on "pdf". Then click on add to iTunes. Once the file is in itunes you can sync your ios and the pdf appears in iBooks
While your description is accurate, it is not what we are talking about here. We are talking about accessing PDF's in iCloud using an iOS device. Mainly, we don't want the PDF's to reside on our devices, rather in iCloud.
Nice to get some advice (That worked!) instead of the incessant whining about "mising features". As a user of information, I don't really care where it is stored as long as I can access it easily when needed. (BTW, the thread is "how to upload PDF's to iCloud," so forget the off-topic comments: you gave good advice to a real user with a current problem that is now solved!)
Thanks,

So I'm entering this late. I just uploaded to PDF's to iCloud. According to the documents on my computer they are in iCloud, however, they do not show up in iCloud when I log in to iCloud with my MAC nor are they visible in the Pages menu on my iPad. Do what's up with that.
The Amazon Kindle app allows you to upload pdfs to the cloud, download, delete, and redownload from the cloud at any time on any device (ios, os x, windows, android). Basically I was just wanting ot know if I could use ibooks and icloud to upload pdfs, download pdfs, delete and then redownload (from my ios devices). It seems this is still impossible.
I too believe the fact that you have been able to save PDFs to iCloud for a while now but can not open them from an iOS device is plain stupid.
However, your solution is perfect for now. No complaints. It seems to do the job! Thanks LearningAppleApps. Good job.
You can transfer PDFs to your iOS devices by emailing them as attachments from your OS X device to yourself; then when reading the email & PDF attachment on iOS, select the 'share' icon and the 'View in iBooks' option. The PDF will be transferred to iCloud and viewable in iBooks on iOS and OS X!
Yeah, Apple is pretty dumb on this. They should allow you to just drag PDFs to your iCloud rather than the 'email pdf attachment to self' nonsense.
Yes you can!
You have to buy the iWork for iOS!
Then you can view and edit documents on the iCloud service.
I agree! The third- party developers are already advertising for certain apps to be iCloud capable, so I think it's just a matter of time.
Did you try to move that folder to your desktop? Can you rename the folder without make everything crash?
I use to drag and drop pdf files to idisk but there is no way to get a sinmple pdf file on iwork????
Apple is going way back and forcing all to go to third party apps like dropbox. WHY ????????????
PDF's can now be added to iCloud by using the Open... window in Preview.
