You can upload a pages files into pdf file but I did not find the way to put a PDF on the cloud...
I would like to know how to upload pdfs to the cloud then be able to selectively download delete and redownload on iOS devices the way I can with pdfs on the amazon kindle app. Any news about this?
I'm sorry Barry but I don't know anything about Amazon Kindle
The Amazon Kindle app allows you to upload pdfs to the cloud, download, delete, and redownload from the cloud at any time on any device (ios, os x, windows, android). Basically I was just wanting ot know if I could use ibooks and icloud to upload pdfs, download pdfs, delete and then redownload (from my ios devices). It seems this is still impossible.
It's not very elegant, but using Preview I seem to be able to save pdf documents onto iCloud. Export the document and chose 'iCloud' on the 'Where:' selection pulldown...
Oh. Well. Yes I can upload the document this way, and it will show up when opening it in Preview. However I am also not able to view the document on an iOS device. Oh brother...
Cape,
What you say is true accept it is useless. Since there is no ios version of Preview, you will not be able to access your document on an ios device. I hope this is fixed in ios 7.
I hope this is fixed in ios 7.
yeah, me too. and a million others. unfortunately apple have opted for style over substance.
so, as far as fixed in ios 7 goes, that would be a big fat 'no.'
Hi, it looks like if you change the extension from .pdf to .txt , then iCloud will accept that you upload your file. When you download it, put the extension back to .pdf and all will be good.
I too believe the fact that you have been able to save PDFs to iCloud for a while now but can not open them from an iOS device is plain stupid.
However, your solution is perfect for now. No complaints. It seems to do the job! Thanks LearningAppleApps. Good job.
You can transfer PDFs to your iOS devices by emailing them as attachments from your OS X device to yourself; then when reading the email & PDF attachment on iOS, select the 'share' icon and the 'View in iBooks' option. The PDF will be transferred to iCloud and viewable in iBooks on iOS and OS X!
Yeah, Apple is pretty dumb on this. They should allow you to just drag PDFs to your iCloud rather than the 'email pdf attachment to self' nonsense.
