iCloud .me email not pushing to iOS 5 devices

First off, if this is a repeat post please direct me to the existing conversation. As I could not find one I wanted to know if anyone is having an issue with iCloud email being pushed to iOS 5 devices? It seems like the push feature only works when the email app is running in the background and even then it runs very slow. Does anyone know if this is a glitch within iOS5, a server issue, settings issue, etc?

I have already tried deleting the account and re-adding it and various other "fixes" but to no avail. I remember the horrendous rollout of MobileMe and I have a feeling that this is simply more of the same.

I deleted my iCloud account from my iPhone last week and it started pushing again but only for 48 hours. Then I turned iCloud Mail off, switched my phone off, switched the iPhone again and then switched mail iCloud switch back on. I've now had 5 days in of perfect (normal MobileMe) service.

In fact, in the last hour or so all of the updates I have had on this thread have hit my iPhone about twenty seconds before they hit my MacBook on which I write this. My 3G connection seems to be quicker than my 100M SDSL line tonight...

My solution has been bolded - I suspect it means the problem is at the server end rather than at the client end.

This getting crazy.

Here's what we've gathered: iCloud mail is broken, others have reported Yahoo is broken too. I believe both rely on the iOS push method. Gmail works fine; it relies on ActiveSync. People have tried tinkering with settings and mistakenly convince themselves it's fixed and then it becomes obvious at a later point that no amount of "turn this off, turn this on, stand on one foot, and wave your hand in the air" is going to fix it.

If you want push email that works, for now you need to go to a provider with Exchange support. iCloud mail is pretty entry-level stuff anyhow. Do yourself a favour and move to a provider that gives you vastly better rule support and lets you pick which folders to push. You may not need it today, but you'll eventually hit a wall where iCloud mail is much less than you need for efficient use of email. You can even forward your iCloud mail there so you don't miss a message.

This was my experience also - until yesterday.

My Push was working since I deactivated iCloud Mail Push, Rebooted Phone, then reactivated iCloud Mail Push late last week. Worked flawlessly.

Monday morning I had to Reboot my phone (it stopped working with my alarm clock). Mail continued to work throughout the day, hours after the Reboot.

Then off of a sudden it stopped and at 9pm I checked and had 7 emails from 5pm - 9pm that were never pushed.
