iCloud .me email not pushing to iOS 5 devices

First off, if this is a repeat post please direct me to the existing conversation. As I could not find one I wanted to know if anyone is having an issue with iCloud email being pushed to iOS 5 devices? It seems like the push feature only works when the email app is running in the background and even then it runs very slow. Does anyone know if this is a glitch within iOS5, a server issue, settings issue, etc?


I have already tried deleting the account and re-adding it and various other "fixes" but to no avail. I remember the horrendous rollout of MobileMe and I have a feeling that this is simply more of the same.

I think it's a more general issue than just email push. Since I migrated to iOS5 and iCloud I've had extremely sluggish performance on mail, on calendars and on address book - in other words, all the things that have something to do with talking to iCloud. For example when I go into Mail I seem to have a huge backlog ofdownloads that I never had before, which have to complete before I can start doing anything. And the same for Calendar - I click on a date in order to enter a new event but nothing happens for several seconds. And there's feverish network activity while I'm waiting: it's as though it has to go sync with iCloud before it's able to deal with me. Big step backwards from what I had before. (ie iOS4 with MobileMe sync).

I'm having the exact same problem. My issue is with my Yahoo emai. lt works for a few hours maybe, then stops working, unless I go into my mail account for it to manually fetch. Won't start working unless I delete and add my yahoo account again. Then same cycle, works for a bit, then stops. I've been to the apple store 2 times now, and they even replaced my phone (4S), didn't fix the problem. I have never had a mobile me account.

I added another account using the settings Waylon suggested. I left the iCloud on. So now I have 2 pushing for the same account. They update off of each other so you just check the email on the one that comes in, and the other updated automatically. I've had a few times where it pushed on the manual setup side and didn't push from the cloud, but at least I'm getting all of my mail pushed now.
