iCloud .me email not pushing to iOS 5 devices

First off, if this is a repeat post please direct me to the existing conversation. As I could not find one I wanted to know if anyone is having an issue with iCloud email being pushed to iOS 5 devices? It seems like the push feature only works when the email app is running in the background and even then it runs very slow. Does anyone know if this is a glitch within iOS5, a server issue, settings issue, etc?

I have already tried deleting the account and re-adding it and various other "fixes" but to no avail. I remember the horrendous rollout of MobileMe and I have a feeling that this is simply more of the same.

Whelp, now I have no idea what's going on. Push was working, until I decided to test Milo's theory about turning iCloud off, restarting, and turning it back on. Now even with iCloud deleted, I am not getting push notifications to email but my girlfriend's phone still gets them instantly.

I have iOS 5.0.1 now because it forced me to do the upgrade.

She still has iOS 5.0

This is so frustrating. I just want my emails to come though without have to open mail and manually check them, isn't that the entire point of push?!

Finally!

It seems like the iOS 5.0.1 update sorted the issue for me.

  • pushes mail whether mail app is open or closed
  • pushes mail 2 hours after and beyond (after a phone restart)
  • still pushing mail 48 hours later (I send a message now and then to check if push is still working)
  • MobileMe migrated to iCloud is the only email account I have in Mail (no secondary iCloud account to help push - which was a trending workaround to get push working before)

Now ALL iCloud services are REALLY online... and working as they should!

When you read a message on one device does it mark as read on the other automatically?

Yes it does! from Mac to iPhone and vice-versa. Didn't really check that part until you asked. I was just so happy that my phone receives iCloud push email consistently now, this has been since the way from the moment i updated to iOS 5.0.1

Wonder if I should backup everything, wipe the phone, and start over? Mine STILL isn't working and i'm running 5.0.1 so I'm not sure what the deal is....literally the only program that pushes is Hanging With Friends game app, hahahah

I feel for you. I was in that situation too. Although everything was pushing, FB was even over-pushing... all except for my mail. All good now since the upgrade. I'm now confused cause all i did was upgrade the firmware, didn't touch a single setting.

On this upgrade to iOS 5.0.1, aside from the benefit of having my push sorted, It also has worked well with my iPhone 4. Battery life has significantly improved. 8am-5pm at work and it's still at 80% (normal everyday use). I'm quite impressed cause it used to leave me with about 45% after a full day at work when I had iOS 5.0 installed.

On another note though, the update may have messed with the signal/reception issues. It is not awful, but is quite sensitive to the "death grip" again - both cellular signal and wifi.... Anyone else?
