iCloud .me email not pushing to iOS 5 devices

First off, if this is a repeat post please direct me to the existing conversation. As I could not find one I wanted to know if anyone is having an issue with iCloud email being pushed to iOS 5 devices? It seems like the push feature only works when the email app is running in the background and even then it runs very slow. Does anyone know if this is a glitch within iOS5, a server issue, settings issue, etc?

I have already tried deleting the account and re-adding it and various other "fixes" but to no avail. I remember the horrendous rollout of MobileMe and I have a feeling that this is simply more of the same.

it is not apple servers, if that was the case then people would be having problems getting email even while the mail app is running. The problem is with the mail api. once the mail app is closed down for some reason the api that is used to get push while the app is not running gets turned off.

The only way to get emails pushed is to keep the app running in the background. There is no temporary fix or server issues, because if it was a server issues then i wouldnt be getting emails on my mac, but i do.

so until apple sends out an update, just keep the mail app running

For me it does not work unless the Mail app is running. If I kill the app, it still works for about 10 minutes (must still be running in the background temporarily), but after about 10 minutes it no longer works unless I open mail, and leave it running. Try closing the app and waiting a few minutes to see if that stops the push.

I actually think i have solved this issue. Was on tech support with apple and found out there is a setting for this on my iphone 4s.

go to settings

then notifications.

then go to mail. make sure that notification is turned ON. mine was off via default. also make sure to choose view in lock screen. then go back to the main "settings" screen and choose icloud. and make sure "mail" is set to on.

This solved my problem.

Hope this helps.
