Remove Scratches + Best Case?

OK. So theres a billion threads on this, and I'm EXTREMELY sorry to ask this again, because being a forum person I know how annoying it can get.

First off all, it's only been about 3 weeks since I've had the 5G iPod. It isn't as badly scratched as some of my friends', but theirs are older. I have been keeping it in its little case that came with it. It scratches like crazy sadly.

I wish to remove all the scratches as good as I can from every aspect of the iPod (screen, front, back, side). Then I want to get a good cover for it so I never have to worry again.

I have heard many ways of removing scratches. I've seen anything from Meguiars, Brasso, and Displex. I've read of others. This confuses me. I want to be sure my screen won't be smeared, I won't cause any hardware issues, etc. I want the best of the best for the best.

I have also heard of plenty cases. Everything from rubber with shock absorbers, Invisible Shields, leather cases, etc.
The Invisible Shield looked appealing. I want to be sure I can keep all functionality but be able to add protection from scratches and hopefully a drop just in case. Maybe rubber would work better. The sleekness of the IS looked awesome tho.

Sorry for the long and repeating thread, but I really need to get this sorted out.

Thanx in advance for all those who read/helped me with this.

You can use what you want but if it does the same thing, why spend ~$20 when $4-$5 will work?
The cleaners that are "meant" for the iPod are basically nothing but repackaged other stuff, with the price jacked up $15.
You don't really think they spent lots and lots of money doing "research" on the iPod to come up with a polish/cleaner, do you?

Polish & clean it and get a good case.
