Left Click on mouse wont open my music library.

I tried the compatibility thing, as well as "Run as administrator" (which someone on another thread said worked for them), and neither had any effect for me. 😟

In Windows Vista if you have the "dock" on your desktop, right click and "close dock". Makes the left click work again. Now if someone can tell me how I can push music to AppleTV from iTunes after upgrading to 10.5.

Nothing seems to work. I have a Windows 7 SP 1. Tried deleting the shortcut. Closed the rainmeter dock. Checked the compatibility settings but in vain. Still the left click doesn't seem to work 😟 Did Apple lose their mind after Steve's demise????? :@

I also have Windows 7. Found that I can open with a double-click of the mouse. Never had this problem before. Reinstalled twice.

So my Vista machine is a Dell, and has the "Dell Dock." As per davideblen, I did the right-click and "close dock," then launched iTunes again and lo and behold I could left click on my various library items again. I tried then closing iTunes and opening it again with the dock still there, and I could still left-click. However, the next time I opened iTunes the left click was "broken" again. Tried closing and opening dock again, and left-click is currently working, though sometimes I have to try a couple of times before it actually works. This whole thing really doesn't make any sense!

Hey ppl it started working now. It all happened by chance. I disabled iTunes using tuneup utilities. It needed a reboot to disable it fully and when I checked back into iTunes it works as a charm. Try any utilitity app for windows to disable iTunes. Seems to work. Peace!!!

Assuming that you mean disabling iTunes from startup in msconfig, this did not work for me. Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit.

I am having the same issue Windows 7 SP1, 64 bit. It also effects pruchased, books, TV shows, movies, purchased on iPhone and all playlist.

I'm about to scream! I'm having this same problem..... When I left click on Music or other items, I get a red circle w/ the red line through it. I can right click, but other problem is that iTunes isn't recognizing my CD's. Windows 7 recognizes the cds. It also won't import my music from my Droid.. just copies the locations in to the Library but the music isn't really there.. unplug the Droid and it says the "File not found....la... la.. thing" I've uninstalled iTunes 10 times, reinstalled.. I've deleted the shortcut and run it from the programs list.. NOTHING! What do I do?????? I need to run iTunes for my drum lessons!!!!! HELP!

Same problem. I did the "close the dock" move, and it seemed to help. I'm guessing that's not a permanent solution. There has got to be a better fix. Of all the times I've updated iTunes, this is the only issue I've ever encountered. Disappointing.

For me the "close the dock" thing is definitely a temporary fix. I haven't seen what happens if I *leave* the dock closed, then close iTunes, then reopen it. When I bring the dock back with iTunes still open, the left click keeps working. However, if I close iTunes and restart it the left click seems to stop working again (maybe not the first time I close iTunes and start it again, but certainly within the next time or two). Strangely, I see this on my Dell desktop running Windows Vista 64-bit, but *not* on my Sony Vaio laptop running Windows 7 64-bit, though I know many people using Windows 7 are having this problem. I've yet to see a consistent solution that seems to work long-term and for all (or even most) people!

Deleting the iTunes shortcut from my desktop fixed it.

Very weird issue though, and as usual Apple doesn't seem interested in fixing anything themselves, we users have to figure out how to do so, or live with things broken (for those of whom where deleting the shortcut doesn't fix it).

Me too on Vista. I tried the Run As Adminstrator and it didn't work until I rebooted my pc and then I got left click back on on playlists. Thanks guys for all your suggestions.😉

Double click for Music, Movies & TV shows. Shame on Apple for a iTunes 10.5 release with such an elementary bug. The beginning of the decline?
