I don't know. Getting rid of a useless icon by makeing a useless folder? I think what most people are annoyed about is a memory-stealing app designed to increase sales and serve as a marketing tool that we should have the option of deleting.

Newsstand is nothing more than a specialized folder. How much memory does a folder steal?

Count me among the "uninformed minority" who have no use for Newsstand. The informed majority are welcome to use it to their heart's content, but there still ought to be a way for the rest of us to delete it if we do not want it.

You can't delete it. Live with it or sell your iPad and buy something more to your liking. Continuing to be annoyed and dissatified by something you paid a lot of money for makes no sense. Return it or sell it.

Don't threaten. Do it. I just read all of your available posts over the last couple of years. You appear to be completely dissatified with Apple and its products. Why are you still here and why do you still use Apple products?

Do yourself and the rest of us a favor and follow throught with your threat.

Unfortunately, there is no way to delete it off your devices...which kind of annoys me as I have absolutely no use for it. I'm sure many others feel the same way, which is why there are numerous threads about this. A big mistake on Apple's part, which I hope they realize soon enough. Not everyone here has or wants subscriptions that require the Newstand app, but from what is said by some members of the community, it is a crime not to appreciate the limits Apple forces onto its customers...

Unfortunately, according to some trolls/fanboys in the community, we are considered "uninformed minorities", and unworthy of owning such a product. Its a shame that their tunnel vision blinds them from genuine complaints, which they term as "getting prissy". Good grief.....

Thank you for expressing that opinion in words more tactful than mine. Both my responses were deleted for ... heck, I don't know why. Perhaps because they were as snarky as the posts they were meant to address.

"Return your iPad or sell it" is hardly a useful response to a user who would like a bit more leeway in controlling the content on his/her iPad. I thought this was a support forum, not an abuse forum.

So thanks for your reasoned response.

It annoys me as well. As does the useless facetime, stocks, game center and other apps. That said, I know I can't delete them so I tuck all that junk into a folder that I can ignore.

However, coming onto the forum, cursing and complaining isn't going to change anything. Beyond giving the admin something to delete that is.

I've heard the 'reason' that those apps can't be deleted is that they are all interconnected, yet I also hear the same people say that all apps are 'sandboxed' and independant of each other.....so which is it?

Unfortunately, if you use Apple products you have to accept that you will use them within the parameters that Apple places upon them. If you don't like that then check into other products.

If you (the general you, not anyone in particular) want to do something constructive, instead of bashing Apple on the forum, send them feedback, and encourage everyone else that complains to do the same and, when they sit down to meetings, someone will have to report 'well we have x number of requests/feedback forms concerning........'

Feedback forms likely get counted and collected and reported. Stuff on here????? Ignored unless there's a reported post to deal with, then deleted if it's against the rules, then written off as anecdotal numbers and it goes no where but giving someone the opportunity to vent.

Only a Philadelphian would think that abuse and support are the same thing. 🙂

A complaint and an honest question about the iPad interface does not constitute being "upset," nor does it indicate that one's head is about to explode. In the spectrum of helpful answers, "sell it or return it" ranks somewhere below the bottom.

But enough... clearly this forum is the province of fanbois more interested in promoting their own superiority than in helping others... so one must go elsewhere to get the information one needs. Good riddance to me, I guess.
