Can I delete Newsstand?
Can I remove newsstand from my iPad? It pointless and I will never use it!

How to get Newsstand off your screen. I'm using an iPhone 4s with iOS 7.0.3 no Jailbreak totally stock. Make sure the extras folder is on the same screen (for ease of use) as Newsstand. Hold finger on Newsstand Icon until it starts to wiggle. Drag it to the extras icon and release. Icon will now appear in your Extras icon and it will stay there. This is persistant across reboots.
Did you read any of the posts in this thread prior to posting or check the date of the original thread? They posted 2 years before iOS 7 was released.
lol, the main problem with this is that it's still using up space on my iphone, space i might add, could be put to better use such as movies, music, photo's and other apps that i actually want on there 🙂
I would love to get rid of the following apps as they are as much use to me as a chocolate kettle:
Newstand
Passbook
Compass
Stocks
Nike+ iPod
Reminders
Most of these were forcably added to my iphone after i bought it, and were not on my phone at all initially, to quote someone else on this site, 'If I wanted these apps I would have downloaded them myself',
I understand that the majority wanted these, but surely everyone should be given the choice to have these and not have them forced on everyone.
I see a lot of haters on here, most of them telling people that if they don't like it, then go get an android phone or similar, are these people just trollin for the sake of it? lol
I'm not after a massive debate or anything, i would just like to know why these could not have been all downloads that everyone could have chosen to have or not to have instead of being forced onto everyone?
😉

All of the apps you've listed were, in fact, on your phone when you bought it. You may not have noticed the ones that were in the Extras folder but they were there. They cannot be deleted. With the exception of Newsstand, they can all be put in a folder and moved to the last screen where you won't have to look at them.
Thanks for your input, but you are Incorrect, I bought my iPhone 4 years ago back when iphone4 was new out and the apps newsstand, reminders, passbook and Nike+ iPod were added later in updates
I do not have an 'extras folder'
I have put them in a folder 'hidden away', (yes even newsstand which everyone says cannot be done), but these remain on my iphone4 using up valuable space.
I believe Reminders came on the iPhone 4 when it was released. The others may have been added with the next iOS major iOS update, I don't have time to check or go back and view the release video. If you don't want any new apps added do not update the iOS on your iPhone.
Yes it did and I deleted it until a new version of reminders came out later and was undeletable
And unfortunately if I want my apps (the ones I do want) to continue to work I have to update so that I do not lose functionality
Interesting, on my iphone I have no newstand and no nike ipod, (newstand is a special foilder, not an app and takes no space unless subscriptions are present), and passbook is 2.9 Mb and reminders is part of calendar and takes 1 Mb, so I am out 3.9 Mb.
What are your actually space concerns?
3.9mb is a lot of photos music etc that I could utilise instead of having things on my phone that I neither want or need ;)

Yeah, it's a whopping 0.012% of the capacity of a 32G device. That's got to be devastating.

Not really... 3.9MB is about 1 song or a few photos.
Well lets see a picture at an average of 100 kb allows approx 11 pics per Mb
a song at an average of 200 kb allows approx 5 songs per Mb
so your missing out on (lets be generous, 22 pics and 10 songs of storage.
Perhaps the real problem with your storage space is something else besides these small apps, have you connected to a computer running itunes to see the amount of "Other" data your device is reporting?
Corrupt files and lots of other stuff can cause that to grow out of control and can be recovered, thre are many helpful methods to recover these space, try google "recover other data from an ipad, I have found the easiest a backup and restore to my computer, I now regularly do that every month or two.
