My iChat is not connecting.
Is there any possible solutions/sources?

Hi All,
Go to the iChat Preferences > Accounts > Server Settings and disable SSL

Please, if posting Logs, do not post any Log info after the line "Binary Images for iChat"

Hi Ralph,
I have the same problem as everyone else but when I go to the server settings to disable the SSL it is all greyed out. Now what do I do?
I am running Lion but my husband's machine is running Leopard and he has the exact same problem.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as we use ichat a great deal with out business.
Thanks
Hi,
If it is greyed out you are either actually Logged in (Only Logged Out Accounts can display dark and Editable text in the server name and port fields) or you are using an Mac User account with Parental Controls On it and don't have sufficient "Permissions" to change things.

Ah, I see what you mean.
That did the trick and I seem to be operational again.
Thank you so much.

What if you can't even get iChat to load? Therefore can't change preferences etc as it doesn't appear. I just get a box telling me that iChat is unable to load and to check for updates (I just updated to Lion).
No problems before the update.
It also doesn't let me close the box without sending automatic notification to Apple - they must be sick of them by now!!
Hi,
Does that Log tell you which version of iChat it tried to Open ?
It should be iChat 6
I have seen some Upgrades to Lion leave iChat 5 as the "main" app which will not run in Lion.
Check the Applications folder and do a Get Info on iChat (Highlight then CMD + i Keys together)
Does this tell you it is iChat 6 ?
(iChat 5 before the Upgrade needs to be in the Application folder and not in any sub folder (I have seen people move all IM apps into an IM App folder) as this "hides" it from the Updater).

Bingo! I have iChat 5.0.3.
I haven't moved anything though. I'm pretty new to macs, and am not even sure I have any other IM other than iChat. It is sitting in Applications and on my Desktop.
Next question, how do I update it?!
Hi,
Use Spotlight (the Magnifying glass top right) and search for iChat.
You are looking to see if two versions of the App show up.
If you seem to have two versions use the Search to "Show In Finder" then do a Get Info on them.
If one is iChat 6 then drag the current icon Off the Dock and let go.
Then drag the iChat 6 icon to the DOCK to recreate the links and icon.
If you do not appear to have iChat 6 did you create an Install Disk for Lion ?
(I have not worked out a way to get iChat if your did not create an Install Disk)
