Hi,

Not that it is reported very much, but when you do the Download there is/was an oportunity to create an Install disk before proceeding with the Upgrade.

Hopefully the Genius Bar will have an Install Disk and can Install iChat separately.

You will see from these previous methods your need a disk.

Hi,

Have you at any time been cut off from the AIM server without logging out ?

An event such as taking out an Ethernet Cable or other Internet break. (Anything that was not a iChat Logout)

iChat can get confused when it restarts (and thinks it is Logged in as the .plist tells it is 'cause it was not logged out) where as the AIM servers no you are not connected and effectively log you out.

That is sort of simplified because the Account Flagging at the AIM end is a bit more involved than that.

Bring the Finder to the "front" (listed app in the Menu Bar)

Use the Go Menu and then Hold down the ALT key.

This will show you the Library option. Select this. (this is th only real access to this now Hidden Folder)

In the Library open the Preferences

Find the com.apple.ichat.AIM.plist and the .lockfile of the same name.

Drag both to the trash and then restart iChat.

This will force iChat to refresh the Login info from defaults.

Hi,

SSL (Secure Socket Layers) is a Secure login.

Even if the connection it just dropped for any other reason you will need to manually reset the Login (Enable the Account needs to be unticked and then ticked again) as iChat will not Reconnect Automatically with an SSL connection.

I have Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G56 and Ichat Version 6.0.2 (1011 It suddenly stopped working. I tried the SSL check and uncheck and that didn't work. I found a file com.apple.ichat.AIM.plist and another
com.apple.ichat.AIM.plist1 and dragged both to the trash. I couldnt find a file .lockfile. I dragged both of the plist files to the trash and restarted. Still won't connect. Any ideas? thanks

HI,

Yes.

Try using slogin.oscar.com and port 5190

If you do not use SSL then you don't need the leading "s"
