Ipod Universal Dock not working

Hi

I have a problem with my IPOD universal dock. When I plug in my Ipod to it, which is connected via cables to my home system, it does NOT work.

But when i remove the Ipod and connect it via the same cables to my system (without the universal dock), it works fine !!

Help please.

BTw, I have updated the software in my Ipod and rebooted the Ipod.

tks

Thanks..i have checked all connections.

I tried connecting my universal dock to my laptop and it works....

so to summarise:

1. Cables (bought from apple store) connected to personal sound system and connected to universal dock - Ipod does not work!!!

2. Same cables straight to ipod (without the dock) and it works on my personal hi-fi.

3. Universal dock to my laptop and it works !! (The ipod syncs and it recharges.

How strange? Any help please thanks

Well obviously thats what is required, I'm somewhat confused by what you are currently doing?

If you are connecting to the Universal Docks iPod dock connector at the back of the dock the line out source that should feed this is wired to the Line out socket on the rear of the Universal dock. This may explain why you are not hearing any sound, although I may be wrong on this fact.

Otherwise your dock may just contain some loose wiring.

Thanks

I have a similar problem. The new PocketParty V2 speaker connected straight to the iPod dock connector works great - but not when connected to the dock connector on the dock. It seems the dock connector is not "wired-through". Can someone please confirm if this is true, otherwise my universal dock is faulty (?)

Thanks. JB
