Iphone 3GS slow after update to iOS 5

After updated to iOS 5 my Iphone 3GS became generel slow.

Graphics and starting apps are slow. Some apps have now up to 10-15 seconds start time.

I thought closing the Iphone and restart clould help, but NO.

Yeah, like OS windows upstarts. 😁

Ok. processor not the same as new Iphone 4s.

I started to regret my update to iOS5.

Jim J - I agree, in part, solutions would be more helpful but anyone who has problems should keep posting and informing Apple: the more people that complain, the more likely Apple will fix the problem.

Did some checking on the net and found quite a few articles that mention the problems people had with iOS 5 and how some of these were fixed with iOS 5.0.1 update (although this update seems to have caused problems for 3GS owners as well. When Apple first released iOS 4 some 3GS users had complaints of slow performance and battery drain, but Apple fixed this with iOS 4.2 update. This was over a year ago. Apple must be aware of the trouble that owners are having and as there are still a lot of 3GS users I'm sure a new update/patch will be available soon. Hopefully it just a matter of time.

I'm getting tired of how slow all the apps are. I think apple just doesn't care anymore and is focused on newer models to sell more units oppose to caring about the customers. Everyone is right about "where is the update fixes?" Enough people complained about the reception on the iphone 4, and apple, even though they didn't want to admit it, provided free covers. I hope they won't try to continue to ignore this issue and figure out a fix for the sluggishness of ios5. I feel like I'm on my old windows machine now everytime I use it...and that makes me sad.

1. Double-click on the home button to bring up the multitask bar at the bottom of the screen.

2. Press and hold any one of the apps in the multitask bar. This causes all the icons to jiggle with a red "no-entry" icon.

3. Click the "no-entry" icon on each app that you want to terminate. (Swipe the multitask bar left/right to see all the apps that are currently open).

4. I think there's a way to terminate all apps in one go but I don't remember what that is.

Hi Coupe Racing - I am sorry to see that your question has not been taken seriously! I think 'flushing' refers to clearing/closing all background apps. I am not an expert in solving the 3gs problem - in fact I have been through a complete reset from new iphone in the hope that my phone would restore to normal function but alas it has not. 'Flushing' may help you for a short while but I have found the problems soon return! To do this double click your home key and you will see several (if not all in my case!) of your apps line up along the bottom. Press and hold just one of the icons - you will then see a 'no entry' sign to the top left of every app. Click one by one to close applications. This doesnt remove the apps from your phone - just completely closes the apps. I would imagine this would have to be done fairly regulary to be really effective. Good luck!
