Hello all, My wife had the same problem on her 2009 Ford Fiesta, after contacting Ford they recommended installing the Software Update to the Bluetooth. All information and download is here:

All I need to do now is find her USB Port as she only has the 3.5mm port in her car, perhaps there's a Service Port under the bonnet?? Everyone I've googled has said that this update fixes the problems. Good luck to all, hope this helps!

    Great !

Thanks for the hint, I tried this update (

on my Ford Galaxy 2010 equipped with Premium touch (blaupunkt travelpilot nx) and it solved the problem!

    Finally... after 5 months...!

Now, after a lot.....a lot of works perfect with 5.1

A shame that it took sooo long....

Good to hear somebody got a fix... I still have the same problem with my Nokia CK-15W hands free kit.

I was having the same problem with my '08 Infiniti G35.  I updated to 5.1 and it seems to have fixed most of the problems.  It still punts the occasional call back to the phone, especially if the call is silent for more than a few seconds (such as calling a business with a phone menu), or if the bluetooth has not been used for some time (such as first call taken that day).  But at least it's semi-functional now.  Before I had bluetooth completely off.

I have a work-issued Blackberry that interfaces with the car flawlessly.  Pretty sad for company whose reputation is built on devices that "just work" when my two year old work phone made by a company currently circling the drain works better.  Apple won't have that reputation for long with these types of issues, especially being completely silent about it.

Same for me... still not the gsm signal rate and battery status on my Nokia CK-15W hands free kit.

As I mentioned a few month ago.. Apple will never fix it.. so we have to buy a new hands free kit, and have to hope that Apple does not break it again...

I refuse to give in on this one... the CK-15W is a perfectly capable (and, at the time, not cheap) hands free kit. Bluetooth is supposed to be backward compatible and in the iphone I purchased a product (in fact 2 now that I upgraded from a 3GS to a 4S) that are supposed to be compatible with Bluetooth devices.

I was hoping to find somewhere on the Apple website to send a proper bug report but can't so in the next few weeks will be hitting my nearest Genius Bar (it's a hour plus drive) and asking them to ensure that their masters are aware that people are not happy.

Perhaps the press might be interested too now that the high profile battery life problem should now be fixed.

Well Im still having the same issue as my original post after I updated a few days ago.....still not happy!! The Samsung Galaxy is looking sweeter by the minute!

While the problem has gone on too long at least the car kit does still work and I have my phone mounted where I can see the info I want on the screen so it's not so bad that I'd want to dump the phone entirely. There are so many reasons to keep the iphone and too few to switch to another make and model.

Sorry, tried that in my attempt to connect to my new bluetooth speakers (had it forget a working connection to my bluetooth headphones).  Now my iPhone cannot see either.  Tried reseting my iPhone with no joy.

    Dear Herr Kauz,

Sorry to bother you but I'm lost for advise and just realized that you had a similar problem to mine.

My new German built Ford Focus has bluetooth, connected to Iphone 4 / 5.01 version. I can see the callers' names in the bluetooth assressbook, but they bever show up when I receive a call.

I believe that you has a similar problem. Did you find a solution? What, pray, was he solution?

    many thanks,

    Hello Mr. Wolfman,

I think my problem was a different one, but I'll try to help you. Did you ask your Car Dealer for an Update of your Bluetooth System? This was a solution for many people. Second, did you transfer the contacts from your iPhone to the car?

    Best regards

Dear Herr Kauz, Re: iPhone-Bluetooth – caller name does not show up Thank you very much for your prompt response/advice.  Allow me to unform you what evolved. 1. I did not relate to your proposition that the Bluetooth software is not up-to-date; it's unmöglich (sounds better than "impossible") that a brand new German product will hold a software which is not up-to date. 2. I sifted through the "Definition" section of my iPhone and found an instruction for the transfer of address book from the SIM to the memory. I pressed the button and within a split second the problem was resolved (after 48 hours frustration). Frankly, I do not understand what is the normal location of the address book (SIM or memory) in an iPhone 4 and I wonder from where my problem erupted. However, the most important thing is that with your kind help, the problem was resolved. Best regards and many thanks, Danny

Has anyone updated to iOS 6 yet?  Wondering if the bluetooth performance is any better.  Also, I'm delaying updating to iOS 6 until I know bluetooth won't go down the drain like it did from iOS 4 to 5.
