I have a complete duplicate set of contacts on address book on my Mac because there are two lists — iCloud and On my Mac. Is there a way to get rid of the duplicates. As a result of the duplicate entries, I get duplicate birthdays in iCal as well. I've tried the "look for duplicates" function in Address Book but that was useless.
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.2)
Had the same issue and Leon's suggestion work for me as well.
1. turn off icloud contacts in your iphone settings tab then open contacts app and click refresh icon. duplicates shoud now be gone.
2. log in to icloud.com from computer browser, click contacts.
3. select all contacts and delete.
4. go back to iphone settings and turn icloud contacts back on.
5. agree to merge.
6. duplicates gone.

Thanks Matt, I did exactly what you said in your post and it worked like a charm. Only it scared the day lights out of me for a while because all my contact in my iphone got deleted. This problem was only temporary because after rebooting my iphone all my contacts were back. Thank you SOOOOoo much!!
