Subscribe to Public Calendar from Google

iCloud only provides a read only share URL. This means that you will only be able to view your calendar from Google Calendar, you won't be able to add events to it. You would have to move all of the events to your icloud calendar by exporting the "Roly Allen" one from google and importing it into the icloud one on icloud.com or with iCal.

Thanks for the reply. I'm just going to run them simultaneously and slowly let the iCloud one expire in that case.

I set up a service to handle this problem. Of course the real solution is for Google or Apple to fix it... but in the mean time this will work.

In case it helps others, one bit that stumped me for too long: the 'share URL' is from making the iCloud calendar *public*. (...I had been trying the share-with-a-friend, and using *that* resultant URL.) Maybe you could change the text to 'Enter URL for a public iCloud calendar'?

jasonlfunk...I have been trying to find a solution to my problem for ages so I was delighted to stumble across your service! 🙂

However, a few minutes after I added the URL to Google calendar, it comes up with an error message that says"Failed to import calendar from "webcal://icaltogcal.com/share.php c=17e039ddbb3bd17c9a8dd664c33c7f0f52d992f36cd983.15982667"

Do you know what this means and if there is a fix for it?

The service was having some issues this morning. They seem to be intermitent with it affecting some (but not all) users. I'm not sure what the root cause is yet. Please try again later.

I think the URL is correct and complete as I can add it as a calendar in Outlook. Any ideas?
