How on earth do you turn off 3G on the iPhone 4S that is really stupid if they actually disabled even if it is to make Siri better

Ah I misunderstood. You're referring to the notification center, not banner notifications. Banner notifications are those temporary things that appear and disappear at the top of the screen when a new notification comes in.
As for notifcation center, yeah I've found that to be annoying in some games too. No way to disable that.
Or, "you're swiping it wrong". Sorry, couldn't resist.
hurry up apple with the new update!!!
i leave in area with a one line signal strength only on the 3G network and all my calls getting lost.
what r u guys still waiting for?!

You're not talking to Apple here, just users like you who are eager to get iOS 5.1 released, which if history is any indication it may be in conjunction with next month's planned event.
you know what!
i just discovered something.
there is no 2G hardware on the new iPhone
therefore, don't expect any type of software update later on.
you can proof this when u update an iPhone4 to iOS 5.x
and u will see this fckng switch remains there!
hard luck guys.
go and sell ur new iPhone 4s or replace with iPhone 4
lol
Wrong.
http://www.apple.com/iphone/specs.html
UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz);
GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
don't believe that...
And you didn't graduate anywhere near the top of your class either.
I am not going to tell you how I have disabled my 3G on my iphone 4S because I am not allowed to on this forum. However I have turned my 3G off and I do not have anymore dropouts. It is working on edge/gsm. So therefore that proves Allan Sampson right and you wrong.
in this specs that u refer to, they said:
Talk time: Up to 8 hours on 3G, up to 14 hours on 2G (GSM)
where in the **** I can find this feature?
that's why I said:
don't believe that...
this rubbish was created by copy & paste from the iphone 4 specs
At the moment until apple put back the 3G slider it is set to automatic. To use 3G first then GSM when 3G is not available. I can also say since I have turned off my 3G I have doubled my battery life.
3dpaint - let's have a serious think about what you just said. Think about it logically...
Had a think?
Ok... Now do you realise what a plonker you are? If the 4s has no 2g hardware how is it able to use a 2g signal when there is no 3G signal???
You said:

And I said this is wrong providing info from the iPhone 4S specs indicating the 4S supports GPRS and EDGE access in addition to 3G.
You followed this by saying:
don't believe that...
Difficult to know - impossible is more like it - that you were referring to not believing the talk time provided for GSM/EDGE.
With a 4S at the present time, you would need to be in an area where 3G network access isn't available for the 4S to connect to EDGE or GPRS.
That right, and what you are saying is that if you are in an area that doesn't support 3G than the iphone 4S wont work at all. That is not the case. Also if it only supported 3G only than why when the signal gets low to one bar does it drop calls and display in the signal strength "searching" what the **** is it searching for if there is nothing other than 3G as you put it?

What?
I said no such thing. Read again.
Sorry Allan I was supposed to be commenting to 3dpaint. I have agreed with all your comments.
