iTunes 10.5 will not install on Windows XP

I had the same problem, but when I downloaded 10.5 from the web site techspot.com; NO PROBLEM! I'm not sure why apple doesn't fix this!

i finally got 10.5 to my xp..... thanks a lot!

Same problem on Win7 x64 with 64bit installer.

Apple can't fix the lack of SP3, QuickTime and Bonjour-Service on your Windows.

Eventually the techspot package included non original files.

Updating Windows to SP3 (it's from 2008 Dude), install at least QuickTime 7.7, Bonjour for Windows had give you the same result.

By the way ... You should update your Windows for security matters as it is on a 2008 stage now.

tryed the steps and was all going well untill repairing apple software update, came up witht the same error message as when installing itunes setup:/ help??

I updated absolutely everything I could from the Windows Update page (including SP3) and it finally allowed my Apple Software Update to function properly and download iTunes. I am back in business. Thanks all!

OK EVERYONE this is what you do, first download windows installer clean up, then go to documents type in c\:Programs and Files\Windows Installer Clean Up . then click on MsiZap and open it then select bonjour and delete it. Then all you have to do is install iTune 10.5 🙂

First of all I AM NOT A DUDE!!!! AND I DID UPDATE TO SP3 LIKE YEARS AGO DUDE!!!!

I also keep my Quick Time update, etc. That was obviously not the problem!

I couldn't get 10.5 to install correctly on Windows 7 64 bit, despite trying every solution (no thanks to Apple) on the internet, so I finally downloaded it onto my tiny Windows XP netbook (32 bit, of course) and it installed perfectly! Now if I can only get it to sync with my ios5 iphone without freezing up midway through the process,....! >(
