Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
When you send an iMessage it works instantly, however iMessage is suddenly not available on a device the iPhone will try to send that iMessage for around 6 minutes before eventually sending a text message. This is a ridiculous situation where now instead of getting instant messages you can potentially be waiting for over 10 minutes to send a standard text instead of an iMessage. Is anybody else getting this problem?
Yes, I'm seeing it right now. Not sure if Apple's iMessage servers are having problems, but there needs to be a better alternative that waiting 10 minutes.
i was recently in a serious car accident. everything in my truck including my ipod is destroyed... even though i wasnt texting an driving i am being charged with texting and driving due to the fact the last message i sent before leaving the house was delayed due to imessage. the message sent in sms 3 minutes before the dispatch call for my accident. this texting and driving charge leads to many other charges that i will be facing just wanna send a big thank u out to apple for having such issues. thanks alot apple.
Hold down on the message and it will pop up a menu.
Select 'Send as text message' and it will send right away.
My wife Jenna just figured that one out.
Running ios6 on iPhone 4S and 5.
I've been unable to use iMessage since this morning, I've turned off my phone three time snow and it hasn't made any difference! It is still taking an age to send any messages via iMessage!
