I am having the same problem since upgrading to IOS5 on iPhone 4 and 4s. Mine goes so far as to not sort the playlists or folders themselves which contain the songs and playlists in them to any order as well as not sorting the songs in the playlists. There appears to be NO sorting in iTunes on IOS5 at all or at least I can't get it to. Desperately awaiting a fix.... It also would be nice to allow us to choose a sort order from the IOS device itself instead of relying on iTunes on a computer to do it. I actually might want to sort a newly created playlist on my iphone. Fix this Apple.
In the playlist, first select the "Date Added" then select the very first column and the 4S will copy it in the order of newest first . Good luck.
Received a phone call from Cupertino in response to an email I sent inquiring about the smartlist problems. They are aware of the problem and hope to have a fix soon. So at least we know they're working on it. Hope that helps those of us who are eagerly waiting for the fix.
You'd think they would know how to fix it by now. I had the same problem when iOS3 and iOS4 came out. Every time I report the bug and get an email from Apple saying that they are working on it. This is by far the longest that it has taken for a resolution.
Apple is not in a rush to fix our issues because it is not a serious issue. Have you tried the process I described on Jan 3, 2012? It has worked consistently every time I have added new songs to my playlist. Bob
to resolve the problem filter songs under the 1st number column either up or down until most recent song is displayed at the bottom. Create another playlist and filter under number column again but this time with the arrow pointing down in order to reverse the order when the music is dragged to this playlist. After this, delete the other playlist and it will sync in the correct order. Any additional songs added to the playlist will be added to the top. Worked for me.
Worked for me. Cheers dude! :-)
Thanks, Capecodmass, this fixed my problem. For some reason the "Smart" playlists aren't consistently smart; changing the problematic smart playlists to standard playlists fixed the ordering problem on my iPhone4s. Thanks again!!!
