Caller ID not working on iPhone 4S

Just got an iPhone 4S today. Also switched from AT&T to Verizon. For some reason, I am only getting caller ID on contacts that have the country code added to their numbers. I turned off International Assist, and it didn't do anything. When I add the country code to the number in the Address Book, the caller ID works just fine.

Is there any way to fix this? Or is there any way to add all the country codes at once instead of doing it manually to 400+ phone numbers?

Here's another fix that I found in a different thread that worked great for me and is much simpler:

The summary:

Here is the summary of the steps I took to correct the issue:

1) Open the Phone and dial *228. This is a Verizon over-the-air programming number.

2) When the system answer press 1 for "Program or activate your phone"

3) Wait for the call to disconnect. You should get a prompt stating something like, "Settings updated."

4) Open the Task Manager and kill the Phone, Message, and Contacts Applications

5) Wait a few minutes (I waited 3 just to be extra safe)

6) Open the Message App to verify the fix.

If you are still broken, kill the Message App again, then reboot your phone.

Good luck!

I had the same issue switching from ATT to Verizon and was able to fix by restoring to original settings, and then setting up as a new phone. I was not able to fix by applying data/settings from backup as suggested by msedward. Just make sure that your address book and the rest of your data on you computer is up to date before restoring and setting up as a new phone.

They can do it at the Verizon store if you'd like - but it's just your contacts...

Yes, I know they can. That's why I was asking if that's how people had their contacts transferred. I am curious as to why this is happening to people who are switching from AT&T to Verizon. One of the possibilities is that the machine that Verizon uses was having an unwanted effect.

However, if you didn't have VZW transfer your contacts, (and the fact that performing an OTA update fixes it), I'm leaning away from that theory.

I did not transfer my contacts through Verizon. I'm curious if everyone who's having this problem restored from a backup for their initial setup? I bought my phone at the Verizon store. They set it up as new first, so when I went home I had to restore from backup from my old iPhone to transfer all my info. I wonder if it's a side effect of them first setting it up as new and then restoring from an old phone that had a different carrier that causes the problem....
