how do i download the ipad manual onto my ipad.

Brand new ipad, not brave enough to IOS5. Friend claims there should be a "books" icon but there isn't. All I want to do is download the manual so I don't have to carry the 154 pieces of paper with me. Please don't mock me for being a stupid PC owner. Not having a good 1st Apple product experience yet

iPad 2, iOS 4.3.3

The PDF can only be saved to iBooks if you have iBooks installed. So go back, take a deeeeeep breath, and install iBooks using the link above. :) Then, once iBooks is installed, a single tap on the PDF manual will bring up a "Save to iBooks" button in the upper-right corner.

Here's an official Apple support article on how to use iBooks to save and manage PDFs:

Good luck!

No worries at all! Just open this page in the iPad's web browser, which has an icon like a compass. You could either navigate to the Apple Discussion forum by its URL, or find it via Google. If you have email set up on your iPad, you could also email yourself the URL: just copy and paste it from the message above.

Once you're visiting this same page that you're on now using your iPad, just tap the links I included before. The first one will lead to the downloads page for iBooks, and the second will automatically download the manual.

I must be menatlly disabled, because wehn i open safari there is some random web page tied to an email i had received (from sephoa if you care) , but there is no bookmark or anything that will get me to google.

So I forwared the email to myself again and the link got me to the pdf, but it does not have a way to save it.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG.

In order to save a PDF on the iPad you first need an app on the iPad that supports PDFs. The free iBooks app supports PDFs, and if you download that app, then from within it you can go to the ibookstore, search for 'ipad guide ios 5', and then download a copy of the iPad iOS 5 manual directly in that app - it will then be there for you to use when you are not connected to the internet.
