Thanks! It worked for me too.

Apple are f**king useless, quite frankly. This happened to me after updating 10.4 and 10.5 versions of iTunes!

What a joke from one of the biggest and richest companies in the world.

I have the same problem and talked with a rep yesterday but they couldnt help so they sent me some emails with support but that hasnt helped so I am taking with a senior advisro today. When I turned off my antivi=irus completely I was able to sync and back up but still cant access itunes correctly. I get the same response as you. Just an I Tunes logo no information. Sometime I get a text only screen for the strore but no images and the links will not work. Either way it must be a security issue or they need a fix sio ITunes will be allowed to access the ports for the store. There are some other things to try but I am tired of it and want to speak with a rep.

This is the only thing that works after trying all of Apple Support this is the answer. Worked on the first try and I can access all features of iTunes and the Store and back up and sync no problems. Thank you very much I have been trying to use Apple Support for tweo days now.

I too had the same issue with PCTools spydoctor.  I tried all the above remedies without any success from uninstalling itunes, to disabling the antivirus program, to adding apple domains to the windows firewall and pctools registries.  I believe my issue was that I was running pctools 2010/2011 which basically uses updates to keep the software current.  I uninstalled pctools, ran itunes, and it worked.  My next thought was if I reinstall PCtools I would have the same issue.  Long and behold, I went to pctools website, logged into my account, downloaded PCTOOLS 2012, and registered.  Opened itunes, went to itunes store, bham, everything came up.

The point is, if you have pctools, uninstall and download the latest edition.  That worked for me, after the countless hours of troubleshooting.

After dealing with this for two weeks, trying the wide variety of solutions that have worked for others, but not me, this one (two msgs up, from geoffreyfromkariong) worked for me...finally.

The line that made it work was:

"I did not however follow the prompt to reboot and it worked"

I had tried the solution from Rizalfromsingapore including the restart, but it did not work for me. Starting iTunes immediately after closing the command prompt box without restarting DID WORK.

I don't know what the cause is or exactly how those cmd lines work, but thankfully it does for me.

One note I did see, now the connection to the iTunes Store isn't instantaneous as it was on previous versions of iTunes (prior to 10.5). It seems as if it is going through some extra steps to make the connection, but does, within 10-15 seconds on my Dell laptop XP. Also, I made no changes to the McAfee security app so that doesn't seem to be an influence.

Good luck to those still banging their heads against the wall. Keep plugging, a solution will come for you.

...and to think I almost hurled this laptop into the garbage in frustration. ;-)

I feel your pain the bloody pc&lop tops are to expencive to through the window and to clean up the mess after, ****. I tried everythin for about 3 weeks then I stumbled onto Rizalfromsingapore comments that work for me (maybe the combonation was a fluke).

My itunes does not load as quick after the fix but it does work.

Has any one heard of the macks having issues?

That won't work.  I have a Dell too.  After a reboot it will just go to the first page only.

What worked for me was that

    1)  I had to remove the "Mobile App" and" Apple Auto upgrade" that comes with iTunes in the Control Pannel.

    2)  Then I used the command "netsh winsock reset" as an Administrator in the CMD window.

    3)  A reboot and now it works like a champ.  I can go through all the pages (Movies, Aps, Books) load in about 5 seconds.

After days of no Store, and searching online, I found an Apple posting that pointed me to my Net Nanny software.  By accessing Admin Tools for Net Nanny, choosing Applications from the Exceptions heading, I could add iTunes.exe to the list and now my store is back.  I've had Net Nanny for some time, so it's something new in iTunes 10.5.  Hope this helps somebody!

Apple needs to employee more people like you. I have both ITunes store back and can sync my phone.

I tried it twice once restarting which didnt help with iTunes but did with the syncing but did it again without restarting and now the iTunes store works.

Again thank you all so much
