iCloud, mobileMe and Snow Leopard

Hi all,

Today I upgraded my iPad to the new iOS5, and was asked to create an iCloud account, which I did, But Snow Leopard does not accept the iCloud id and passworld or the (new) mobileMe email address and password. what's up.???

K

Some background info:

I needed to change my Apple ID from MYNAME to MYNAME@gmail.com (I used the Apple ID web site to do that) so far everything was fine. But then my MobileMe account didn't not work on the iPad (Mail) So I tried to use my old username, but got a message that it was taken!! what gives???? Ok I can live with a new email address since I'm the only one who used it in the past. So I go on to create a new mobileMe email account, but now Snow Lepord dosen't accept my MobileMe nor the iCloud id !!!!!!

I'm not sure when I'll upgrade to Lion, Help!!! How do I sync my stuff? Calendar etc. I used to the MoblieMe sysn for that.

Is there anyway to put pressure on them to fix this? Thanks to this message board I have my calendars working together again, but not my contacts. It seems nuts to me. I am not going to invest in icloud obviously. There must be a lot of folks like us, that can't get a new computer just to get icloud to replace mobileme whiched worked just fine. I would imagine they won't e buyining into icloud either. Seems like a lot of lost revenue. Such an un-apple thing to do!

Willowhich, hi, check out the erudite torrent of similar complaints under the thread "No iCloud on Snow Leopard! This is a joke, Apple"..... Like many of those people I've predominantly used an Apple Mac desktop for over 20 years now and am absolutely disgusted by Apple's treatment of hundreds of thousands, even millions, of customers with Snow Leopard or older. I am not convinced enough to get an iPad and am amazed Apple seems to be gearing everything to that. Well, Google and PC here I come, after all these years....Sad, very sad.

On that thread there is an independent UK guru who has a solution, but I'd already tried that, having scoured the BBs for hours to see what our US friends had come up with, and my email packed in yesterday. I simply don't want to risk deleting the account and re-creating another one. Especially since in the long run clearly Apple is forcing us to get Lion to use iCloud on desktops which in turn will force software upgrades and new hardware purchases to run Lion......Insulting madness and an abuse of power.

Apple has shot itself in both feet, the knees, and those parts we daren't mention. I've been so loyal to them, but as an ex-law professor and website developer/editor I cannot afford to, and will not, hang around in chaos and confusion. Apple has form for this. They know what they are doing.
