waiting for changes to be applied
My iPhone 4s never finishes syncing. It just says "waiting for changes to be applied" and continues to sync. iTunes is updated to 10.5 (141) and a brand new iPhone 4s.

I sync my IPhone 4 and IPad 2 with new Macbook Air. Syncing IPad is OK, syncing IPhone - the same like threeshoesva (I waited 8 hours, still nothing happened...)
I was having issues getting music onto my Dad's Iphone and it kept stalling out "waiting for changes to be applied." After going into "Preferences..." in iTunes then the "Sharing" tab and selecting "Share my library on my local network" it worked just fine. Hope this helps.
I had found the problem was with certain songs being corrupted, after doing restores and uninstalling and reinstalling itunes i found the problem only happened with a certain artist. After I deleted them from itunes and synced it worked, only 125 call with apple.
Yes, I believe that this problem arises because there are corrupt files but I have a huge library and finding which files are corrupt (could be only one or two) may take many hours. And I noticed that I don't have a problem syncing my older iPods, I only have this problem with my iPhone running iOS 7. So it seems clear to me that Apple could fix this problem by modifying iOS. The question is why they haven't fixed it. If you check the prior discussions of this problem you'll find that it has exixted for at least a couple years.
I am HATING iOS 7 since I installed it. The latest is this FOREVER "waiting for changes to be applied" BS.
I am a long-time Apple-enthusiast, since the Fat Mac in 1986. Hello Apple!! Do you monitor these discussions? I am thinking of getting an Android phone for my next upgrade! This is a RADICAL statement for me. Do you care? You have sacrificed function for style, and your products are no longer user-friendly.
I agree - after hours trying to transfer my music via iTunes I took your advice and transferred everything with Copy Trans Manager in seconds. Thank you! iTunes no more.
Latest update, after begging apple support for help for this issue, they have said:
"You will be needing an iOs Senior Advisor for assistance. You can reach them through this number
Australia
(61) 1-300-321-456*"
Yes, I have to call Australia from UK to get support. So I spent £560 on an ipad air, now I have to spend £5 a minute to talk to someone who may or may not be able to help.
lazylady_seYour suggestion worked for me! Thank you...such a simple fix. Everyone should try this. I can't believe others are recommending restoring the phone, deleting music, etc. as first line things. This was simple and effective. Thanks!
I've been having the same trouble for months. I've rebuilt my phone several times along with my itunes library all with the same result of "waiting for changes to be applied". I finally figured out something that works for me so far. Make a smart playlist that filters out all the aac formats(kind, does not contain, aac). This will leave you with all the mpeg audio. Select all, right click and convert to aac format. After this is done delete all mpeg audio files that have duplicates in our library, or make a smart playlist that only has your aac formatted files.
@Apple501. Nice find. Im my case, my music (all mp3 ripped from CDs, never buy from itunes) works, its only books which fail. Once syncing a book has failed, the only option I have is then to reset the ipad air back to factory settings, as from this point onwards, the app store is broken so cant even download free apps. So itunes on a PC can break the app store (and syncing) on the ipad air. Its 100% reproducable, but the support team apple cares not about bugs which its customers are facing and which are submittied with full deatils to their email support. Perhaps Apple belives that its products are 100% bug free, so its customers must be wrong, who knows.
@bilbobobbin. Have you tried deleting the books that are fouling up your synch from your computer and from your ipad and redownloading them?
I wish this fixed worked for me.
It's hard to believe that this post spans 2011 to 2014. I have an iPhone 4 and just purchased a MacBook Pro to replace my ancient Mac Mini. I'm so frustrated and disappointed I could scream. Music syncs fine enough and then just quits working. "Waiting for changes to be applied".
I was so fed up with this all last week that I restored my iphone from scratch in an attempt to get my music back on my phone. IT WORKED!!!! and it worked the next 5 times I synced.... but now it's back to it's old tricks again refusing to sync.
I haven't changed a single solitary setting.... it just started misbehaving. I'm convinced it wants me to throw it in a blender.
Sweet merciful F@#* why won't they do something about this?!!!! What a bunch of sadists.
AND yes I have tried every single suggestion on this thread and others, aside from taking the pair out back and shooting them with a 12 gauge.
Greetings,
Yesterday I upgraded my iPhone 5 from iOS 6 to 7.1, and when I tried to sync I was getting the same seemingly unending “waiting for changes to be applied”.
I tried a lot of the ideas suggested in this thread, just short of restoring my iPhone.
Before committing to that drastic step I decided to leave it alone and go to bed. When I woke up in the morning I found that the sync had completed sometime during the night, and everything that was supposed to be copied over seemed to be there. (I was primarily concerned about a podcast playlist I created in iTunes syncing with the iPhones podcast app.)
I just did another sync, and while it seemd to stall at “waiting for changes to be applied” on step 6 of 6, it did manage to finish after less than 5 minutes.
Hopefully what some people are experiencing is a _extra_ long sync time right after they upgrade, and slightly longer sync times after that.
Can anyone else confirm if leaving it to sync overnight will solve this problem for them?

I have one of the newer style iPods which is in the same situation. I'm having to factory reset it every single time in order to get it to sync at all.
This forum makes me sick. 4 years, 164 posts, No answers that actually work. Restoring your phone works for a short time if at all. No real support to speak of. No wonder all my friends have converted to android devices. I guess I will be the next to follow.
