waiting for changes to be applied

My iPhone 4s never finishes syncing. It just says "waiting for changes to be applied" and continues to sync. iTunes is updated to 10.5 (141) and a brand new iPhone 4s.

I sync my IPhone 4 and IPad 2 with new Macbook Air. Syncing IPad is OK, syncing IPhone - the same like threeshoesva (I waited 8 hours, still nothing happened...)

i can't believe how many insane posts I see where people are happy because 'restoring' the ipod/iphone fixed this. That's NOT a solution. That's an incredible inconvenient workaround. How Apple has ignored this for several years, is beyond me. It says a lot about them, there's no denying that.

For me, I refused to 'restore' ... I took too long putting my music on this. Based on a post I read several pages back, I was able to finally get it working by turning off both wireless and wifi, and then all of a sudden it started syncing photos to my songs (I also saw a post about turning off photo sync so that may have worked too).

Still, this is incredibly frustrating ... I am using an iphone 6 with itunes version 12 and can't believe I see that this problem goes back to the iphone 4 w/ IOS 5 - jesus christ, Apple, can you finally please address this for your customer base?

I found this fix early on in the thread and cannot recall who wrote it, so forgive me for not giving credit where it is due, but it is worth repeating:

iPad 2

iOS 8.1.3

Windows 7

iTunes 12.0.1.71

Delete your iCloud account on iPad.

Go back into iTunes - resynch

Seriously - after 2 days of trying to work this issue, this fixed it. My songs are now being repopulated on my iPad, which is taking a while, but I can see the progress.

Thank you to the poster who originally suggested this!

I'm writing this while I wait for my "changes to be applied" as well. Here's the bottom line... Apple has bloated iTunes beyond belief. Their only solution is to take iTunes out back behind the shed and put it out of it's misery. Start over from scratch. I've suggested to them on their feedback page, as many others have too: separate the store, the media player, and the sync into 3 separate apps. 1. bring back iSync (no more requiring iPhoto to open when syncing either). 2. move the media store into the app store as a separate section. 3. clean up iTunes and make it lean again, like the first version was before all this bloatware came into play. This way, Apple could actually manage issues like this, and users don't need to try and slug around one single Frankenstein abomination of an app like iTunes has become. Being a customer of theirs for 25+ years, this is really frustrating.

Sorry, this is not a solution.

The backups do not back everything up. They restore apps, but lose the app data, which means things like game saves are lost during restore. I didn't dump hundreds of hours into an RPG only to lose it all because Apple can't get the phone to sync properly.

Is there a way to fix this problem without erasing the whole thing and starting over with a pseudo backup?
