iCloud/iPad 2 error: "user name or password is incorrect" when I try to sign into iCloud.

When trying to sign in to iCloud on iPad2/iOS5 I receive User name or password is incorrect dialogue box w/ and "ok" bar. The screen freezes at this point and then it just spins "verifying" at the top. The only way to clear it seems to be turning it off. The same login/password worked on iPhone 4 and MacBook Pro. iPad is upto date. Any thoughts?

Worked here too. Had some issues today with my iPad when I was syncing. Didn't show things properly and iTunes showed I needed to download an update even though I had 5.0.1 already. Tried a Restore and still had the iCloud issue. This suggestion worked like a charm! My iPad never had its MobileMe account changed to and iCloud icon until today. My iPhone did when I installed 5.0. Guess the install on the iPad never was completed.

Found a solution! After 2 days of frustration! I went to https://appleid.apple.com ➡ Manage Your Account ➡ then saw an option to Make Your Apple ID and Primary Email Address the same and clicked on it. This made my email address now the same as my apple ID, which used to be Liebshen. I didn't even know this till I posted the comment above. Must've set it up years back when i got my ipod mini. :)


After doing this I went to Settings ➡ Mail, Contacts, Calendars ➡ iCloud. I then changed the Apple ID to my email address (which was now the same thing). It then took my password!
