I concur! I've not had any issues with the holiday calendars. And if you do... you can always add your own (day/holiday) to it. Create your own special yearly events and sync it with your iCloud.

I thought Good Friday was on the calendar, but after checking - it's not.

As for "most" schools being closed on Good Friday?? What??? I venture to say @jlabonte71 is from the upper East coast somewhere?

Dude, as for most of the rest of the country we've all been pretty much "unionized" in the U.S. of A. for quite a while. We don't get that day as a "holiday."

I think you've missed the purpose of the Apple forums?? I've been using Apple / Mac for nearly 25 years. I'm not following... "the cult" as you say, but because Apple products and OS are intuitive and ... "just work."

You're obviously new to the Apple / Mac community, otherwise you wouldn't be using a forum intended for helping each other to bash a product that you're apparently and simply not familiar with. I have never had the same positive and cooperative experiences in the PC world that I've had with the Mac community. I don't mean to sound like I'm flaming - I'm not, but your words seem indicative of what I "have" experienced on the PC side of technology.

I can speak from first hand experience. I've worked 'IT' on both sides - Mac and PC platform. Give me Mac ANY DAY. Any... and I mean "ANY" IT person, if being unbiased and honest will agree with me. You have your numbers backwards.

I spend the majority of my time updating, download patches, removing malware, fixing drivers, reinstalling, reformatting, reconfiguring - and the list goes on with PC's. To set up a brand new Mac, including taking it out of the box takes all of about about 5 - 10 minutes.

You'll NEVER get that turn around time from a PC, and ALWAYS... as time goes by - the PC gets worse, and slower because of all the software bugs bogging it down, not to mention the incredibly bloated MS OS. Yes... I said - I bashed MS. But I can - I'm in the NW, previous same hometown, too.

Mario Andretti would kick my butt in any professional race, as I imagine he would do just the same in a stupid go-kart. Meaning - regardless of what technology being used - technology is ONLY as smart as you make it, or the person using it. That would include any of Apple's i-devices.

Because... if you were honest with yourself, and took a look around on the web and saw what people are doing with those "**** poor" i-Devices - you would actually be quite astounded.

I hope you're able to overcome your tech hurdles and enjoy which ever device you're using. The calendar thing really isn't a big deal. Quirky, yes, but it works fine. I can attest as I've been using it quite well, synced between my iPhone, iPad, and my desktop Mac.

Understanding this is not really the place for such discussion, but ummm yeah.Good Friday is (still) a widely observed holiday, like it or not. It is a state holiday in 11 states including FL, HI, IN, KY, LA, NC, ND, TN and TX (schools may or may not be closed). Yes, I am in the Northeast as one responder points out. But as far as I recall, KY, HI, ND and TX - for example - fall well, well outside of the Northeast.

Both the US and European financial markets are closed. It is a recognized holiday in Canada and 134 other nations. So no, this is not an insignificant thing limited to "Vatican City" or "Catholic Schools." In fact, those Roman Catholic institutions are a relatively small faction of the Christian denominations that observe Easter and its associated holy days. But I digress.

See, it also happens to be a holiday that is sneaky since it changes every year and if you're not particularly into the whole Lenten- Easter thing (which I am not), GF can be pretty confounding. And I don't feel like adding it manually evey year or subscribing to 4 different calendars to get what I want because those, in turn, do not sync correctly with Outlook. So y'all are right, I'll stick with other products that accomplish this Herculean feat with simplicity and intuitiveness. Thanks for the the advice.

Michael,

Did you solve this issue?

If not, I suspect you have not yet created an iCloud WebDav account in your Snow Leopard iCal application (I assume you are running OS X 10.6.8). Here is the link to the method to do so:

Now you can export any and all of your resident iCal calendars (the ones listed under ON MY MAC heading).

Hope this helps.

I don't believe that all of the questions posed in this thread have been answered. I have an iPhone 5 and access the iCloud from a PC. I subscribed to a holiday calendar on my iPhone, but it did not sync to my calendar on iCloud. Manual entries that I make to my calendar, either on the phone or in the cloud, sync to the other calendar. So I am looking to find out how to get the holidays from my phone to sync to the cloud OR how to get holidays to post to the cloud some other way. Remember, I'm accessing the cloud from a PC, so any "iCal" solution doesn't apply. Thanks in advance for any help that you can provide.

Sorry if my question doesn't fit here or shows my ignorance. I'm new at this. When I implied that all questions had not been answered, I was refering to the following post earlier in this thread. Apparently jwiser and I both are under the impression that using a PC and the calendar in iCloud does not give you access to iCal. Since you state that you can do iCal from a PC, I will investigate this further.

You are correct. I am in the wrong area. I had done a Google search and found this thread titled "How do you add holidays to iCloud calenderar" and it appeared to address what I was trying to do. I haden't noticed that it was in the "iCloud on my Mac" section. I will consider myself properly chastised and resume my search in the appropriate section. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
