iTunes to iPhone "Unknown error 0xE800007F"

I have Wi-Fi Sync active and it works great unplugged from power -- but when I plug my phone into power and it starts syncing, iTunes says the following:

"iTunes could not connect to this iPhone because an unknown error occurred (0xE800007F)."

Searching gives me zilch. Anyone have an ideas? Everything is running the latest verison of iOS, etc., etc...

Re: suggested multicast solution...

I've just checked and my router already has Multicast enabled in its Firewall settings.

So this solution doesn't work for me (I am still seeing the error message regularly).

Still not syncing wirelessly here. I have a 3GS, Windows 7 32-bit, and a D-Link DIR-625 router. I have followed all advice on this forum so far, including: check "sync this device over WiFi" and sync; enable MultiCast on my router, disable and reenable UPnP, Multicast, and iTunes Wifi Sync settings, restart the computer and iPhone and router; forgetting my home network and recreating it on my iPhone (yes, they are both on the same network); enabling home sharing in iTunes. I have checked all the Windows network settings. I also checked if my router has a dual band setting as suggested by one person, but it does not, and updated its firmware.

Despite all of this, I'm still getting "Sync will resume when [My PC] is available" when I go into the WiFi sync page in the settings on my iPhone. Anyone have any further advice for me? If I find any solutions I will post them here and everywhere else I am posting this message.

(Crossposted form https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3399156?answerId=17172401022#17172401022. Separate footnote: ando1, I believe the multicast setting in tomato is about accepting multicast from the WAN, and therefore unrelated to local traffic (and further, an unnecessary (if minor) security hole)).

Possible solution:

I have been experiencing this since I first enabled Wi-Fi sync; to add to the knowledge base, I have an iPad1 and an iPhone4, but only the iPhone threw the errors. It appears to me, though I did not do rigorous testing, that the error is thrown related to when I plug the iPhone into line power. Other than that, Wi-Fi sync works normally, whether invoked from iTunes or from the devices.

One day ago, based on clues in ando1's post at https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3399156?answerId=17114764022#17114764022, I added a firewall exception for syncserver.exe. Note that I made no other changes, and have not rebooted or reset any of the devices involved. Twenty-four hours later, I have not experienced the error since; normally by now I would have expected half a dozen appearances of the error.

I don't think this issue has anything to do with the operating system. If Windows users post here, let them post and any solution they have may be worth trying if it isn't OS specfic, which I doubt any solution will be. I say that because I had this error message running Windows Vista Home Premium but Santa was good to me and I just received a new, and my first, Macbook. I thought, surely, this error message is resolved now, there had to be a problem with Windows. Nope. I still have the error message with iPhone and iPad. This error message, in my belief, is originating either from our respective home networks (I'm also using a Linksys E3000 with Tomato FW) or settings within the iPhone/iPod/iPad.

For the record:

iPhone 4 16 GB (six-digit passcode)

iPad 1 64 GB (no passcode)

Linksys E3000 with Tomato Firmware bridged through Linksys WRT54G with DD-WRT firmware, I received this error message before I installed the bridge, not related to the issue.

Any help or ideas or suggestions are welcome, even from Windows users.

Spent 90 minutes on the phone with AppleCare today, and fixed my syncing problem. Here are the steps I followed:

1: Restart computer

2: Restart iPhone 4S

3: Reset Network Settings on iPhone 4S in Settings>General>Reset

4: Reset All Settings on iPhone 4S in Settings>General>Reset

After each step, we tried to Wi-Fi sync. If it works for you before you get to Step 4, stop!

Hope this can help someone.

I seem to have fixed the issue...time will now tell for how long. I don't know how many people have the luxury of a second computer at home but what I did was:

1) Install latest version of iTunes

2) Log into my account and authorized the new computer inside of iTunes.

3) Backed up my device to iCloud.

4) Deauthorized my original computer

5) uninstalled iTunes

No synq issues for two days now...I went from a Windows 7 machine to a MAC OSX machine. Everything is working flawlessly.

THANK YOU!!!

Over the past few weeks I've been trying steps #1 and #2 without any luck.

Step #3 worked and it worked overnight without any issue. Typically, when I wake up in the morning there are mulitple errors regarding this issue.

For those wondering I'm running iTunes on windows vista. This apparent fix give more creedence to the fact that this has more to do with iOS network settings than Mac/Windows OS network settings and for that matter routers.
