iCloud and Office Mac 2011 sync

I believe iCloud doesn't sync with Office for Mac 2011. I could make the syncservice to sync my outlook for mac 2011 data with ical. But it is saved on a local calendar (on my mac) than on icloud. so the changes I make on outlook comes on my ical, not on iCloud. any help??

My Outlook for Mac 2011 also got its calendar wiped out when I enabled ICal.

Outlook is an industry standard tool. That they did not test it or tested it and decided to be silent is not a good policy, in my view.

Outlook for Mac is a brand new application, never was and probably never will be industry standard, especially as Microsoft have elected not to support those standards you speak of, it is junk, use something else.

Yes, it is my own fault - I should have read the "minimum system requirements." My goal in writing anything in the forum was not to blame someone else (neither Apple nor Microsoft), but to call attention to the data loss problem that I had so that others would not repeat my mistake. I have been protected from my own mistakes before by Apple (for which I appreciate), but this time there doesn't seem to be an easy road back. Thanks to everyone for the explanations of the different competing standards (or non-standard standards).

Enabling iCloud wiped the Outlook calendar and prevents syncing to iCal and Address Book. This is a HUGE HUGE HUGE problem... and yet another example of Microsoft not keeping up with Apple. I am SHOCKED that, according to MS Tech Support, there is not active development to fix this problem. While I much prefer Outlook to iCal and Address Book, the inability to use these products with iCloud renders them useless!

Microsoft should fix this problem now!!!

Hi,

Appologies if anything in here is repetitive or just dumb.... very new to Mac world ( 3 weeks!)

Simple question (I hope).

Can I enable an account in Outlook 2011 on my Macbook Air that will see and sync my iCloud account.

i.e. I can set-up/see numerous gmail etc, but not iCloud - doesn't even add a 'tray' under the Inbox.

If so - please post instructions here for the 'hard of thinking' i.e. me.

Cheers,

Steve
