Iphone 4s bluetooth not finding devices...

Cant get my new 4s to find bluetooth devices namely my SYNC in my ford mustang. Most troublesome as my old 3g connected instantly. Sat in car for 20 mins and it never found it. Any fixes?

Hi wetshore, I was having exactly same problem was driving me bonkers - but I have solved it!

On my subaru (impreza) media centre you can have only one phone connected to the blue tooth system - well thats what I thought as when I went to add new iphone 4s it said full, so I deleted old one and added new iphone 4s. It connected okay but after conection lost say, by turning ignition off then back on, would not automically reconnect, so had to pair again etc (sounds same as your problem).

Now I also have hands free on my subaru (for making calls on steering wheel)

Strangely it seems you can have more than one phone connected to this. You need to go into this menu through the lift handset button (rather than the menu button), navigate menu and select list phones, here I had both phones new and old one (luckily I had named them differently on itunes so lt was easy to see there was two!). So I deleted the old phone from this part of the system.

AND GUESS what, hey presto subaru connection works like a dream now!!!!

Sit in car phone in pocket and it connects beautifully, stays connected and if for some reason connection is lost, happens sometimes, it will reconnect after small pause.

(word of warning: it says CONNECTING TO DEVICE, then says (for a split second) no device found then connects cant remember the slight delay before but not complaining, I am a happy bunny now its working.

Hope that helps any Subaru drivers.

Justin

I am having the same issue with my Toyota Sienna - it keeps saying searching but never finds the handsfree. It does find "car multimedia" but when I chose that it is only the Music from the Iphone that it finds not the phone. I called Apple 2x and they said it must be Toyota's bluetooth software. I called Toyota and they said it's the phone. So - I will never get it resolved unless someone at Apple actually reads these posts and realizes that there is a glitch with the 4S and hooking it up to the car bluetooth. Helloo Apple????

Well I thought I was the only one that had this issue, but Im glad im not now

I also have a iphone 4s and my Bluetooth cant see anything. I work in a office full of bluetooth devices, My ipad 2 sees 20+ Bluetooth devices, my iphone 4s sees none. Doesnt even see my iphone ipad2.

So is this another software bug or is this a physical malfunction in the phone it self.

Im begining to wonder about apple now and the quality.

Ive rebooted the phone and the fault is the same.

Bluetooth switches on but thats it.

What is going on.

This should have not been missed at all.

I too have the 4s and it connected to all my bluetooth toys the first day. Then a few days later.......NOTHING! It can't seem to "discover" anything. Went to the Apple store and the tech was befuddled. Tons of bluetooth devices in the store and my phone can't find any!! I have a Jabra and a Plantronics. My old 3GS with iOS 5.0 still discovers and uses these bluethooth items. I have had a number of phones and this has never been an issue. Bluetooth is a BASIC funtion of any phone on the market today.

I use bluetooth a lot. And without bluetooth this product does not work for me. NO bluetooth is simply unacceptable. A new iPhone 4s without a subsidy from the phone company retails for 700-800 dollars US. Not having a working bluetooth at this price is totally unacceptable!!!!!

SO here's my solution. I'm going back to the Apple store and requesting a phone that works. If they cannot give me one, OR give me a written guarantee that this issue will be fixed in less than 30 days I will ask for a complete refund and get a ****** driod. After all, they want me to accept their license agreements all the time! I prefer Apple, but this is just simply ridiculous. The 4s feels like a product rushed to market before it was ready.

Went to the Apple store today. I went last SUnday and the guy couldn't figger out anything. Today, a girl took my phone in the back and got it to work. When I asked what she did, she was honest enough to say she didn't know, she just played with it for a while. I know she did a reset. And I know she took a new bluetooth earphone and got it to work on her iPhone 4, and then on mine. But at that point it still would not discover MY headset. Anyhow, had she not fixed it she would have been willing to give me a new one. And had that not worked I would most likely be looking at Droids. Yech! But I gotta have bluetooth. Now, as I mentioned before, my vluetooth worked when I first got my iphone 4s. Then it could not find anything after a day or two. We'll see how long this fix works. So.........take yourphone to the Apple store and ask them to fix it. If they cannot, ask fr a new one and make sure bluetooth works before you leave. If all that fails, get a Droid or live with the problem.

I have also had issues with the bluetooth in my 4S. 'Only' as I want to get some pics and more importantly, the ringtones I loved, from my previous (Nokia) phone. The 4S won't recognise it at all, neither can it find my daughter's brand new HTC. I copied the ringtones to disk, loaded them into iTunes, but am unable get them into this phone, despite them being in the 'Ringtones' folder...????? Any ideas???

My partner's 4S was accepted instantly in his new Holden ute; we can see that bluetooth is on and searching, saying it's 'discoverable'.......but what use is bluetooth that's SO selective re the devices it can connect to???

I honestly expected a lot more from Apple with this phone! The Apple tech guy I spoke to (from my landline, lol) could only say that it was,he thought, because the other blutooth devices were/are out-dated...that's rubbish!!

However I can happily report not having the battery issues that many others are experiencing. A woman at Telstra advised me to turn off internet connection (at least overnight) to minimize data usage.....there are some helpful people out there! My partner didn't for the first week, and he had a usage record, and he doesn't know how to use the internet at all....I also turn my phone off standby, just with the button on top, as soon as I'm finished using it; whether that makes much difference to battery life, I don't know.

I had a similar problem with Chrysler Uconnect. The 4S sees the device, BUT Uconnect can have only 1 cell phone paired. After I deleted my old cell phone, my car pairs with the 4S.

However, I still cannot pair Bluetooth with either my MacBook Pro or iMac. It will pair with the Apple Wireless Keyboard. I have a Genius Bar appointment tomorrow morning.

I have a Subaru Impreza (2011 model) and used to have an iPhone 3GS which didn't cause any problems with the bluetooth. My 4S has been nothing but a pain - have to manually connect each time, re-pair the phone sometimes and on other ocassions after connecting it would drop out mid call.

Problem Resolved!!!!

I just used the solution provided by Justin31 on my Subaru and it works like a charm now. Slight delay when I turn the car on (about 20 seconds) but now the bluetooth connects on its own, and doesn't drop out.

When you delete your old phone using the menu key it isn't completely gone, so you need to use the lift handset button on your steering wheel to access the menu and you get a different set of options. I deleted the phone through this menu and paired my phone again. Thanks Justin31.
