iCloud won't recognize my apple id

I upgraded Lion and everything else tonight on my iMac, and low & behold iCloud shows up. Yay! Or so I thought.

I only use one email address for all my Apple stuff (iTunes, Apple Store, App Store, etc.) but when I try

to log into iCloud, I get the following message:

User uploaded file

I never had a MobileMe or .Mac account. Did I need one? I checked and made sure my Apple ID worked

with iTunes and the App Store. And of course, I was able to log into my account here. Can anyone suggest

something to help me with this?

Thanks!

Don't worry about a mobileme or .mac account. First of all .mac doesn't exist anymore. MobileMe does have free accounts, and you can find it in your System Preferences on your iPad or iPhone 4 - click on it and set up your free account. It may not work however, if you still haven't verified your Apple ID. So, go to appleid.apple.com click on Create an Apple ID. Put in your email address (even if it's the one you already created an account with) and it will either ask you to make a password, or it will tell you that the email you put in is already in the system. It will ask if you want to reset your password. Click on that link, and either put in the password you've already been using, or create a new one. It will then send an email to you with a link in it - click on that link and you'll be verified! I had to reset my password and I just used the same one as before. Try this, see how it goes.🙂 Try not to get discouraged. 😝

You can not open a new Mobile Me account, free or otherwise, and all Mobile me services will end on June 30th 2012.
