iCloud won't recognize my apple id

I upgraded Lion and everything else tonight on my iMac, and low & behold iCloud shows up. Yay! Or so I thought.

I only use one email address for all my Apple stuff (iTunes, Apple Store, App Store, etc.) but when I try

to log into iCloud, I get the following message:

I never had a MobileMe or .Mac account. Did I need one? I checked and made sure my Apple ID worked

with iTunes and the App Store. And of course, I was able to log into my account here. Can anyone suggest

something to help me with this?

Hi Csound1 - back when I wrote the above, it was Oct. and Apple was still allowing people to open new Mobile Me accounts to make it easier for people to transfer over to iCloud, as some people were having trouble with their accounts. So, thank you for updating that. I totally spaced it! 🙂
