was having the same issue... got my iphone replaced the 3rd time I went to the genious bar and got that problem solved. Now having another problem tho, that is the stupid address book does sync, BUT THE PROFILE IMAGES DO NOT!!!!!!!!! I associate a picture to a contact on my iphone addressbook, and like 10 secs later it just disappears... same happens if I do it on my icloud profile.

    Im just puzzled...

I had hoped that IOS 5.0.1. might have cured these problems but it hasn't. Still nothing is being synced to my iPhone and trying to turn iCloud things on or off, or to delete the account cause the never ending activity circle. Whatever Apple thought they were curing with IOS 5.0.1. it was not this problem.

I have an iPhone 3GS too and i just notice today that my contacts on www.icloud.com is not equal to my contacts on my phone.

    Here is what i did:

On my iphone i go to Settings > iCloud > then i turned OFF the Contacts and select "Keep on my iPhone"

Then as soon as i activated it :-) my contacts syncs on the icloud.

Maybe you should try to do this again if you have done this. Just give it a try :-D

I tried that but it still did not work for me. I did get a calendar to download from the iCloud but any changes I made did not transfer either way and the contacts never did download from the iCloud. I am back to iTunes syncing.

I have the feeling that iCloud syncing is still problematic, at least with some configs. For the time being, I unchecked iCloud syncing in Address Book and iCal, until things get better.

Yeah, I have had to do this a few times already on my 4s.  I'm not sure what is triggering it.  iCloud will work fine for about a week at a time and then it tells me there was a problem syncing and to try again later.  I waited 5 days once with no luck.  The only thing that has worked is deleting the account and opening it again.  My wife has not had a problem yet with her 4s.

Any news here? Just updated my iPhone 4 to 5.0.1 and joined the iCloud. Unfortunately my calendar is not being synchronized at all and only exactly 100 of my 150 contacts have been sent to the iPhone. The data transfer between my MacBook and iCloud is working fine. It really shocks me that this problem exists for over two months now...

I am having the smae issue.  iCloud and Mac syncing just fine.  iPhone and iPad won't sync calendar, or bookmarks, and only a portion of my contacts.  When I try to turn off iCloud on my iPhone or iPad it freezes and I have to force close settings.  Have tried complete resotre and new set up, and still has the same problems.  Any news?

Finally I got it working with a new account and the following steps:

    • Disable iCloud on iPhone, Mac and PC
    • Sync everything to the iPhone via iTunes
    • Create a new iCloud account
    • Enable iCloud on the iPhone and let it upload its data (verify through the web interface that everything is there)
    • Enable iCloud on Mac and PC

Calendar, contacts and bookmarks are now sync'ing fine here between iPhone, Mac and PC. My iPad is not running iOS 5 yet so I can't say anything about it.

By "Disable iCloud on iPhone", do you mean "Delete Account"?

  • rfkd Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

Yes, on the iPhone you have to delete the account, on Mac and PC just sign off.

I found a partial fix for the people having issues with the syncing CALENDARS from thier comp (with lion) to thier iphone (with iOS5). Open up iCal>Preferences>Accounts>click the in the bottom left corner to add an account>Choose iCloud for "Account type" and sign in with your apple ID and password. This seems to work going from the iphone to the comp but not from the comp to the iphone :/

    UPDATE: thanks to rfkd

I found a partial fix for the people having issues with the syncing CALENDARS from thier computer (with lion) to thier iphone (with iOS5). Open up iCal on computer>Preferences>Accounts>click the in the bottom left corner to add an account>Choose iCloud for "Account type" and sign in with your apple ID and password. This seems to work going from the iphone to the computer but not from the computer to the iphone :/ (also make sure that the CALANDERS is turned on in iphone settings>icloud as well as in system preferences>icloud on the computer.

Do this and if it doesnt fix the problem then delete your icloud accounts from both the computer and the iphone and then re-sign in. This should fix the problem.

You can add me in.  Spent 4 hours talking to iCloud expresss support. Got a replacement phone at apple store restored 14 times last 5 days.  Very furstrating.   All my 4 year old back up files are gone due to misleading instructions from genious bar. Help me.  contact, notes, calendars, aren't syncing nor you can't even turn them off. created 2 apple id and both of them aren't working
