iPhone 4s Battery Life?

This is a complex problem without a single solution for everyone. In your case it might be cellular data, in my case (read my post above) it was WiFi sync, in somebody else's case it might be trouble with the SIM card. There may even be cases of defective hardware, but for most people my guess (and it's only a guess) is it's more likely a software problem that causes the phone to use one or more of the radios excessively.

Apple is working on iOS 5.1 beta now which has no mention battery problem! Therefore Apple is not working officially on the battery problem!

This simply means your battery indicator is flaky. As many people have experienced, the drain is not linear. If your device operates good it will drain about 0.5% per hour on standby and calls will drain about 12.5% per hour. When you reach 1%, you'll be able to draw some valid conclusions. Your 30mins of calls have drained 6-7% of your battery whether the indicator shows it or not lolll. There is no magic involved. At 1% for 30 mins of calls you'd be making 50hrs of calls on a charge lolll.

What is your estimation of the iPhones 4s which are affected by the static noise issue? It is easy to write that something is nonsense and sit and wait for god to give you the most correct percentage!

If I take the mean of your estimate, which is ~0, and my estimate ~80% then one has that 40% of iPhones 4s have the static noise issue which is a hardware issue! 40% is still a huge number of iPhones 4s with faulty components!

Also this forum has ~830 000 views. Let one assume that from these 25% have the battery problem with iPhone 4s. This gives that there are at least ~200 000 iPhones 4s with battery problems (in USA, Canada, and UK alone) which is a huge number! Also one should keep in mind that that the 830 000 views are coming mostly from USA, Canada, and UK!!! How ever you turn the numbers around they still look bad for iPhone 4s!

I never said 30 minutes of calls at 0%, I said 20 at 1%. Read better friend. I also never say usage is linear, I say usage with cellular off is obviously times better than with it on. If you got nothing useful to say, don't say anything.

.. and to complete the stat, at this moment my phone has 6:45h standby and 40 minutes usage at 95%

Yesterday at the same usage rate, about that time I had around 40% or less and would have under 20% in just 2 hours from now, which is obviously not going to happen today. Or you gonna bring again the issue of non-linear power usage? sheesh

If you are here trying to deny a battery drain problem then you're one of those Apple employees (that don't read these forums) that's here trying to deny all is well. There IS!!! A battery drain problem dude, you probably don't even have an iPhone 4s so you're just playing guessing games. One forum post here dealing with the battery drain issue has run into over 530 pages of replies, what proof do you need more than that?

My phone has drained 60% in the last 3 hours doing nothing!!! More than simple texting explain to me how that is the latest in high tech ? I have nothing else running on the phone.

I don't particularly care if the new update is called iOS5.0.2, ios5.1 or ios999 the fact is that this battery drain issue IS real and a number of sources confirm this just google it. Apple just like Microsoft do NOT ever completely reveal everything that a new update addresses, most of the software industry works this way and has for 25 years already. Most updates from most vendors often end up fixing things that are not even listed in their release notes, I've been in the game for 28 years mate.

I've learned one thing though is that these forums are filled with so called users who are actually apple employees spending time denying problems and disrespecting others users.

If you would have read my posts for the last weeks you could have seen that I am saying all the time that iPhone 4s has a battery life issue which is hardware issue related to 3G! All I am saying is that Apple is not working on fixing it because there is no mention of it in iOS 5.1 betas! Also I am saying that the battery life issue is a hardware issue which cannot be fixed with software or firmware updates!

I have never written anywhere that iPhone 4s has no battery life issues!

Check your facts before accusing anyone!

Sorry if you felt I was accusing you of something, I've been on these forums for quite some time and have often found posts very clearly coming from apple employees. It is not possible for most people to go and read through 100's of pages of replies just to check who said what. If it is indeed a hardware problem and they cannot fix it then they must replace devices, can't sell me the most expensive phone on the market and then tell me that in order to have the battery last I must turn off all the features in ios5 that lured me to buy the device. That's false advertising last time I checked. As I said, I know this industry well enough that when things are being kept quiet by a developer they are aware there is a problem and are fixing it on the sly often not even talking about it or confirming it in their developer channels.

As of my iPhone 4S, it was at 100% at 3:53PM and when I checked at 5:33PM, 1% was lost with NO USE AT ALL and it said 27 minutes was used. What is it with this iPhone?

Indeed I see in the future black clouds for Apple regarding iPhone 4s in US and EU. Already Apple got a fine of 1,2 million $ in Italy for its bad practices!

Also I have the same feelings like you when I am reading posts here which blame the users of iPhone 4s for the battery life issues! Also I am astonished when I read posts here which state that ~ 1,5 days of battery life is good for such an expensive phone while one has a lot of setttings off!!! For the same features and more settings on one can get a much cheaper phone which also has a much better battery life, like for example iPhone 4!

By the way have you checked your iPhone 4s for the static noise issue (turn on your cellular data, turn off wifi, load in safari a webpage which takes long time to load and immediately put your left year on the back of iPhone 4s where is the Apple logo while the webpage is loading, if your hear a noise then you have the staric noise issue which is a hardware issue)!

Mine was fully charged at 10:30am this morning, all I have done all day is have two chats on whatsapp and browsed about 20 pages on safari and sent 5 SMS messages. It is now at 15% battery left and it's 4pm. I've not even made a single phone call. Battery technology and hardware have come a long way so I am convinced these are OS memory leak bugs. The fact that it is now rumored there will be no Ios5.0.2 but rather a jump straight to 5.1 is also an indicator that branch 5.0.x is probably inherently flawed. Whenever developers dump a branch of software so quickly it means there's big problems. If some bright spark at Apple had not chosen to remove the ability to switch off 3G and keep the phone locked on 2g/edge we'd be able to have the phone last 3 times longer but alas they just took this feature from ios4 and removed it. I guess that's what we call progress.

@enx23 Thanks ;) I'll do the static noise test and report back, I hope all these issues are not signaling troubled times ahead for apple and stronger market share for the droids. My blackberry used to last 2 full days with emails, browsing and numerous calls, barely making it half a day with the 4s now doing even less stuff. I don't particularly want to put anymore into the mighty G market, they control too much as it is and I luv apple, simple as that.

Just tested now and I don't appear to have the static noise problem. I'll check again later when it's quieter to make 100% sure, right now alas my 4s has a hot date with my charger :)

You're right, although my phone now seems to give me at least 5 times better performance with cellular data off, my "usage" also seem to build up whilst I've just let the phone sit beside me while I watched a movie. 6 minutes of extra usage over 1 hour and I've not touched the phone.
