My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

When I turn on the Location Service, it drains faster. I kinda want that ON always.

It is pretty bad compared to iPhone 4!!!

15-17 hrs with wifi - on, 3G - on (cell data), bt - off, location - on.
With 3G off - 20-22 hrs. Waiting for magic update IOS 5.1 (or 5.2), if its wouldnt help

There are no specifications for the solar charge - at this size no solar panel can charge an 1800 LiIon and the iPhone. No serious engineer would start building such a device, which seem logical but is completly useless.
My iPhone stays on for maximum 1 day 4 hours and with 20% left. Usage time is probably 40 minutes, but of course, phone decides to increase it to more than 10 hours. I don't seem to know what the problem is... I'll list you the apps I have installed in my phone and the settings below.

Of course I had MUCH more games but I deleted them because I couldnt figure out the problem.

After this long list of information, I expect someone to please help me with my battery drainage. Battery drains about 1.5% every hour on standby only and I barely use it everyday - very low phone calls and texts.
I would love to have some of the "battery problems" that some of the posters have 🙂
Unfortuantely this is my current situation
Maximum time I get out of my iPhone 4s after a full charge is about 7 hours
So Im quite jealous of those people getting a day or more out of their iPhone while having wifi etc. turned on. This is my first iPhone and cost an awful lot of money so to say Im upset and disappointed is an understatement!
Do you have the static noise problem? Put the cellular data on, and load a heavy page in safari, put your ear to the middle of the back of the iPhone while the page loads, you have the problem if you can hear a crackling sound, to me it sounds like a harddrive writing data.
I fear this is a hardware problem, which can't be fixed with a software update. This is why I wait for 5.1 before I return my iPhone. I also hope that Apple will tell what iPhone serials that have this problem so it will be easy to get a working phone in return.
Yes I do. I just knew I had this static noise problem. This is really irritating me.

Of course, of couse. But that doesn't say much about what they're focusing on, the internals you know. Even when they release their patch, the release notes are not the most detailed and you're left experimenting to see what gives - plus there's rarely a downgrade path, so it's hit or miss. The more I think about it, the more I find they should have waited for their iPhone 5. I mean, people were happy with the 4 and all, plus they were not going for LTE or anything really significant. The true gaming device is their iPad, siri is software, nobody really needed a faster CPU or anything like that, they've pushed dpi to the point the eye can't tell a difference. Still trying to figure what was the point, aside from further sales.

I am really rather surprised Apple has no stores in Portugal. It sounds like you are in what we call 'between a rock and a hard place'. No good solution. How did you buy your iPhone? Does the place you bought it not offer any support?
Only you can really decide if that is good enough for you. I probably wouldn't be happy with it. Still, it depends largely on what you did with the phone in the time you were using it. If you were hiking with GPS in use, maybe it wouldn't be too bad as we all know GPS implies more power usage. If you were sitting playing graphic intensive games, it is very good. Just average usage, not very good. On the other hand, you did get through a day, and some users claim no more than 7 hours, 100% to shutoff. If you don't have to recharge in the course of a day, and you have the services you need on, then I would say your are marginal. If you are having to do without services to get through the day, that's not good enough.

I must have missed the message you are replying to, but on the subject of solar chargers. I did see one in a tool store that came with a plug for the Apple devices, and it was about 6x9 inches. It might be good for campers and backpackers who want to recharge, but I suspect it would take a rather long time to charge the phone with the power on
