iPhone 4s Battery Life?

I notice you have Twitter installed. Does it have location services, and does it check for new Tweets all the time (push)? If so, it is probably not doing your battery percentage any good. Your times look pretty good to me for general use.

Definitely a problem. What does 'usage' say at the end of 7 hours? If it is the same as the standby, you may be one of those users who has the 'phantom usage' problem. Some users seem to think it is related to a problem with SIM cards. Good luck.

Unfortuantely this is my current situation

Maximum time I get out of my iPhone 4s after a full charge is about 7 hours

• No apps running
• Deleted all mail accounts
• No internet/wifi running
• Turned off push
• Turned off location services
• Brightness is at about 20%
• Turned off 3g
• No phone calls being made at the moment
• Basically done everything suggested on this thread!

So Im quite jealous of those people getting a day or more out of their iPhone while having wifi etc. turned on. This is my first iPhone and cost an awful lot of money so to say Im upset and disappointed is an understatement!

I eagerly await the release of 5.1, but I doubt it will fix everyone's problems. I particularly look forward to being able to delete photos from Photostream.

can ios 5.1 solve our problem?

As I said, location services is off so obviously it doesn't use location services. However, I believe it is the push on twitter that is causing the problem but unfortunately, I don't know how to turn it off.

Well, that a fruit and vegetable producer would want to sell as much as he can of his production, I mean sure. But from the most capitalized tech business, I would have expected things such as "innovation", "a greater and more empowering experience", "delivering further value to their faithful customers", "returning some of the wealth by lowering their margins on their flagship product to make it the device for the masses instead of a status icon", "flawless engineering", "new and improved design", "crystal clear call quality" and such. I think that's the most frustrating thing of all. Everybody is saying the battery life will be better eventually if you turn off so and so and do this and that... Even if all that does improve battery life, its not a satisfactory result considering how much I had to pay for this iPhone. I want it to work straight away. I wasnt expecting to have to make every change possible to see improvement in the battery!

Have you not worked out that the S stands for scrap yet.....

I haven't installed Twitter so I am not sure about this, but isn't there a setting for the notification type? If so, you can turn it off (I should think), or, failing that, you could uninstall Twitter.

I do think Apple need to integrate something similar to SBSettings, it needs it badly because its so useful, user friendly and quick. Giving you the ability to toggle off 3G,WIFI and a slider for brightness similar to the music slider. It can be so easily implemented in the (double tap home button) bar. Yes I know I forgot what its called 😁 I'm listening to music and can't concentrate. But they can't get sued for copying a jailbroken app surely? I mean its Apple's product after all! They can do what they want with it! Which is why I'm surprised they have not added something similar already.

@rphunte42 - on page 596 in the bottom is the link to the ugly thing. I don't expect you to understand that, but it won't work for campers also.

<sigh> Yeah I believe the 3g switch actually ejects the battery making it last a lot longer. Ya think its at all possible that Apple has actually fixed what was broken in iOS5 that caused this to start with? Man some of you guys just refuse to be a little positive huh?

Oh and you can use the one button on top and the slider that will accomplish all those 5 or 6 buttons you mentioned 🙂

Oh, so you're saying I should go to Settings>Notifications>Twitter and take off Twitter from the notification center? Because I really don't want to do it, I want notifications from Twitter but I think it is trying to find tweets. Not sure about that. I couldn't really find a "turn off push" button and anyways, my 3G cellular network and Wi-Fi are always off for a better battery life. And about the usage and standby issue I had, I think it is actually giving me the correct results! 😀 I'm very happy about it! 🙂

LOL Well Im back enx23, Did you not attend math class? That reminds me of when we were kids and on 12/31 we would tell ort friends "We will see you next year". Even tho just the next day.

Really, A year? The date is 1/12/2012 OH wait, maybe your iPhone calender is broken as well, sorry. Report that to Apple and look on your Nokia when you want to see the date until 2 more years when Apple fixes the calendar that calculates Oct to Jan as whole year

Your phone isn't up to your expectations, for whatever reason, so, of course, you are upset. And just reading the complaints here, one might well get the impression that a large number, if not most, users are having serious battery issues. NONE of the other 4S users I know has this problem. So, maybe it is a 'bad batch' of chips that ended up in your phone, and an undetermined number of others, perhaps a lot in your area. This can markedly skew perceptions. Frankly, with 10-15 million of them sold, if the problem were really in a large percentage of phones, you can bet the media would be on it like flies on a dead dog. Apple is working on some things that will, hopefully, give everyone better battery life, and some users doubtless have significant hardware problems. I don't think it is as widespread as you seem to think, but then that doesn't really matter to you if YOUR phone is giving trouble.
