iPhone 4s Battery Life?

Jackol i would return it, until they have the problem solved. Some of us are stuck, and you don't want to be in the same situation.

Clearly some of you might have a few glitches, 3g or wifi drain. But i think my situation has you beat. No matter what I do to my phone it drains like crazy.

Scenario 1: with everything on, drains like crazy, 6-10% per hour

Scenario 2: with everything off, drains like crazy, 6-10% per hour

Scenario 3: Factory restored, Sim out, airplane mode, wifi off, nothing on the phone, no mails, no nothing DRAINS 6-10% per hour

All that is on Standby, If i were to use my phone, I can literally see the numbers drop before my eyes, This is the nth Iphone 4S i've gotten replaced, Seriel # C3..., running 5.0.1(9A406), Nothing but System Status app installed. I do have the loud static problem during 3g usage. My area gets about 2-4 bars of connection. Like I said my problem isn't just a 3g toggle fix... or a settings reset... or location services toggle.... Something is majorly wrong with the phone. For the mean time, my phone is tethered to a charging cable, which totally is not mobile anymore.

It's amazing really that this thread is still going after all this time. Let's face it - the 4s was nothing more than a quick-and-dirty update to the iPhone 4, in response to Samsung (and other companies) releasing newer (not necessarily better) phones in the Fall of 2011. Shareholders were getting anxious as they watched other companies continuing to put out high-end dual core phones while Apple still had its single-core iPhone 4 on the market. Due to shareholder pressure Apple rapidly put out the 4s with a dual core processor and some other minor improvements, in order to hold onto its market share (to keep investors happy). As such, iPhone 4s sales boomed and stocks rose, after falling slightly. Shareholders are now happy as sales continue. Apple has bought itself more time to refine the next generation iPhone (which was the primary project all along). Cook was handed the iPhone 4s to test his ability to show corporate leadership. Jobs was involved with the next-gen iPhone up until his death.

Long story short...the hardware and/or software problems with the 4s will likely never be resolved or addressed in any significant way. We will complain about the 4s until the next iPhone is released, at which point most conversation about the 4s will cease. The 4s is a stop-gap phone, nothing more; meant to preserve and maintain market share. I expect the next iPhone will redefine Apple (and define Job's legacy).

Ps. Since I made the second full restore from iTunes (800Mb, 5.01. (ver. 9A405) Nov. 2011) I have no problem with the battery. My wife also has no problems.

=> usage in standby modus. (0,2 - 0,3% per hour)

My cellular data and WiFi are always off, except I go to wok with internet.

I suppose the one thing with all of this, is Apples attitude of it can't be fixed so the heck with you they offer no support, no buyback program nothing. They do continue to sell the phone and people continue to have the same problems but nothing is done from the corporate giant Apple. My work phone is a 4 and it has been on 3 days with all updated software and used daily everything turned on and its just now at 58% The 4s Suxs period and its criminal of Apple to continue this practice of selling these phones knowing the problem

So, why haven't you filed a charge of fraud in your courts? Could it be that you really do understand that Apple IS working fixing the problem, and that SOME phones (most it would seem) are perfectly all right, and you are just annoyed that YOURS isn't one of them?

I have charged it full and waited until the battery is dead! There was no charging in this 8 days time.

I had used te phone only twice or Internet and 1 call. I wanted to see the max. performance of my iPhone.

No way, it is impossible - you liar! if you had everything off and only for some calls and internet, how do you get a usage of 6h20min, explain that!

Your behaviour is realy childishly.

The 6h20min consist mainly from the phantome usage. I can not explain it. Smal usage in the backgound is in every iPhone.

But as you see for the 8 days only apprx. 6 h usage is nothing.

I wanted only to show you all that after the implementation of very many good ideas found in this forum (mainly actions after 5.0.1. instalation) my phone has very good performance.

I don't have any static noise issue.

FYI.

On the beginning I had also a massive problems with my 4s - battery draining issue (October 2011): draining 10% per hour, back panel was very hot during the usage etc.

My phone was terrible. I claimed it in Apple Sore in Munich and got a replacement. I calibrated the battery, implement the tips from this place and now is OK.

Been following this thread for over four weeks ! My battery life is poor on 4s but with mobile data off I can at least get to 40 hrs standby with light usage. But now I have a new problem of phantom usage! iPhone is a joke I remember seeing some tips on how to solve phantom usage here but can't find them now. The 5.1 update better be good otherwise iPhone has gone to the dogs! Ps I have firmware 406

You are in Germany (Munich?) and have T Mobile from Poland...very interesting! Oh yeah, this is a good idea - buy a phone and don't use it to see how long it works without usage! You made my day!

It's just because you haven't been with us for a long time - you would know that I haven't bought an Apple phone, and I most likely never will, unless they make a candybar feature one that's affordable and that has crystal clear call quality. You see, I'm quite knowledgeable about the iPhone and smartphones in general, yet I have not found a single reason why I should buy one of them. I don't do social networking (fb, twitter or others), I don't have the need to browse the web on the go, I don't play games on a credit card size sceen, I have a chinese MP4 audio/video player for multimedia, I'm not clueless to the point of needing a GPS to find a place in the city or outside, I have a real camera for photos and I'm not into status. I do mail at home or at the office. Plus I don't want "text neck" and when I wait for the tube or the bus, I look at... women, trees, buildings, whatever - I like to be aware and couldn't care less for trivial stuff like statuses or notifcations about someone saying something I don't care about. I don't need to know the weather in advance... I'm a man, and rain or snow or thunder doesn't get in my way - for security I rely on being physically fit and trained, so nothing will ever get in my way. When I'm with someone for coffee or drinks or a meal, I stop talking when they use or look at their phones, then I wait an extra 30 seconds before starting again... I've noticed now my friends and colleagues no longer use their smartphones when I'm around. It's about respect, manners, and taste - which some smartphone users lack.
