iPhone 4s Battery Life?

Hi,

I had the same problem but i think that it's fixed now, still have to test it...

I turned off everything possible like most of the guys on this forum, most of the thing were unnecessary anyway.

---------------Here is the list-------------------

WiFi turned when not needed...

Settings-> Notifications (for most of the apps)

Settings -> Location Services -> System Services -> Compass Calibration

-> Diagnostics and Usage

-> Location Based iAds

-> Setting Time Zone ---- seems very important to turn off

-> Traffic

Brightness set to Auto-Brightness...

General -> About -> Diagnostics and Usage - DON'T SEND

General -> Siri -> Raise to speak - OFF

Bluetooth - OFF

iTunes WiFi Sync - OFF - This should be uncheked in Itunes when connected to a computer

General -> Restrictions -> Ping - OFF

General -> Date and time -> Set Automatically - OFF

Mail, Contacts, Calendar -> Fetch New Data -> Push - OFF

Mail, Contacts, Calendar -> Fetch New Data -> Fetch -> Manually

After turning that off, battery life was slightly better, but not even close to the expected...

But the biggest problem was Usage & Standby time were the same, and according to that, it seems that the phone is never actually in standby mode.

Next i did was:

Remove existing email accounts

Reset Network Settings

Reboot the iphone (By holding the sleep and home button at the same time until the Applelogo appears)

Create email account again

And i think the most important(I FOUND OUT ABOUT THAT LATER ON):

Mail, Contacts, Calendar -> Fetch New Data -> Advanced-> Manual for every account

I don't know what exactly did the trick but when i charged my phone to 100% it stayed like that for the next 3,5 hours which i couldn't imagine before...

I will keep it on very light usage to see how long will it last and then will try to turn on some settings one by one.

So far, so good...

Sve mi je zivo pogaseno,a usage time i stand by time mi je i dalje indenticno.

Znaci,izbrisati account i nakon toga rebootat iphone ? Jel imas jos koji savjet?

Da li mi reboot moze pomoci bez da pobrisem mail accounte,jer ih imam malo vise?

Try what Denis Croatia wrote.Delate account-reset network settings-reboot iphone.

I will try it when I come home from my workplace.

BTW iz Trogira sam.

Meni se čini da je to problem, kao da stalno "radi" i nikako u standby modu.

Tražio sam okolo rješenje u vezi tog problema i negdje sam naletio to.

Ja sam izbrisao mail jer sam imao samo jedan, a isprobavao sam sve i svašta

samo da dođem do rješenja.

Ja bi ti predložio da probaš resetirat network settings, reboot-at.

Onda bi ti trebale biti crtice na Usage i Standby time, dok ga ne napuniš na 100%.

Poslije toga pogledaj da li će ti opet biti identično, nadam se da neće...

Ako baš imaš dosta email računa onda probaj bez brisanja, ja sumnjam da je to išta utjecalo

ali sam pratio druge tako da san napravio sve šta su predložili.

Ima dosta materijala o ovom problemu po internetu(mislim na identičan Usage i Standby) i mislim

da ako to popraviš da pokazuje kako treba onda bi ti trebala baterija trajat puuuuno duže.

P.S. I nemoj zaboravit postavit u Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Fetch new data -> Advanced -> Manual

"Since I have multiple email accounts they was allllll set to fetch. I had fetch new data and push set to off but when I went to advanced settings I noticed that each email account was set to fetch. I switched them all to manual and bingo. Strange I know but now my usage an standby time is no longer equal.

So if anyone is having poor battery performance I would suggest looking into this."

My iPhone 4S has a serial number starting with DN.

I took of the sim card at 5:28 as I always thought the battery drainage was sim-related. 15 minutes later (5:43), I lose 1%. I'll keep you up with my stats and see where this goes.

14 minutes later, I loose 1% with no sim card inside and on standby. Looks like it really is a hardware issue. I'll make sure I change it to an iPhone that starts with serial number C3. I'm not satisfied at all with this.

Try this yourself: take out the sim card and leave it on standby with all apps not running in the background. If the battery drains, then it is probably a hardware issue.

For me a big difference when in the Netherlands using T-Mobile or KPN as a provider.

With T-Mobile we're loosing 15-20% overnight with a fully charged battery. With KPN only 3%.

The question what is the network of T-Mobile doing? I'm glad we are not using T-Mobile anymore.

You are one of the few people on here who has been able to get rid of the usage and standby times being the same, or nearly the same. I hope your procedure works for others.

Guys I have seen this posted in various places so apparently help is forth coming. (why the network reset seems to help I suspect)

Have seen other posts that 5.1 beta 3 has made significant progress to the battery woes.

[Disclaimer] I am nor a developer nor do I have 5.1 installed. This is information I have read in various other places.

Just to be sure, do the network reset, and the phone hard restart to make sure any running task gets terminated.

To be honest, for me the usage meter is not correct anyway. I can talk on the phone for a while and none of that usage actually shows up. One day (slow day) I was on phone for 60 minutes, checked email a few times sent a few texts and downloaded an app and fooled with it a bit and my usage reported 30 minutes. I knew that I had at least been on phone calls longer than that so looked at call logs. I dont have battrey problems BTW since 5.0.1. Anyway the point is the meter doesnt seem to be accurate and possibly both ways. Maybe reporting usage when there is none and not reporting usage when there is. From last post the phantom usage has seemingly been addressed in 5.1 beta 3. Fingers crossed for you guys.
