iPhone 4s Battery Life?

Hi, how did you get to install 5.1 beta this is for developers only and will not activate are you a developer zjazjoe?

You seem to have a real issue there. Go to Apple Store if available, and see if they can figure out why your drain is so high.

I tried turning Siri on and off, tried turning time zone on and off for location services - neither helped. I let the battery run to 0% last night and let it charge all night in an attempt to condition it, we'll see how it goes today.

I have AT&T, a guy in my office with Verizon has the exact same problem. I'd rather not have to do a full restore as I would have a ton of work in setting up pages/favorites, etc.

My device id is registered as a developer yes.

But just to let you know that don't give the hopes up!

What I also suggest you to do to find the culprit is to add one email account/icloud at a time. To see who the culprit is. When installing ios 5.1 beta 3. I charged it and unplugged it and locked the phone and looked at it 2 hours later. And saw that icloud says my password was wrong. He probably asked that from the very beginning. But what I saw was that the usage time was the same as standby time eventhough I locked the phone. After I inserted the right password it has the right amount of usage. No phantom usage. So I don t know if it helps!

True. I was talking about active blocking, or 'jamming'. However, the local malls seem to have signal boosters throughout the malls because I always have 5 bars where ever I go in them. Still, I think that any place that caters to the public would become instantly unpopular should they intentionally, or accidentally, block cell phone signals.

That's rather high usage, so I don't know about what you were doing. It still doesn't seem like really good battery life, but at least it seems to have gotten you through a whole day with rather high usage. It might get better after a couple of recharges. Bottom line, is, if it is good enough for you, it's good enough.

Well i dont no whats happenin with my phone at the moment when i get a text it normaly puts the number of text on the message ikon so you no you have unread text its stopped doin that now and have to open the ikon up to see if i have any text messages..... same with missed phone calls its not showing that ive had a missed call does my phone need restorin anyone?

I notice you have 3G off, but cellular data on. That means you would be in the Edge network, which is glaciallly slow, compared with 3G. I wouldn't do that unless I could stay on wifi 90% or more. I am at 11hours5minutes, and have a bit over an hour of usage, and the battery is at 80%. Earlier today I found the GPS indicator on, and I couldn't find what might have turned it on, so I rebooted, and it went off. Still, at the current rate, I will be around 70% by the time I put it on the charger again when I go to bed. Not too bad.

Aloha all ok my iPhone 4s serial # starts with DN. That being said I've done a few things I've read here

1) in location services advanced I only have cell network search on

2) raise too activate Siri off

3) all mail accounts set to manuel

4) iCloud off

5) vibration off

6) brightness 50%

7) turned off calendar no notification at all

I've gotten very very good results with these settings. From full charge on standby after 4 hours only 1% drain not too bad. Before I did these settings I got through a work shift of 7 hours of medium usage from 100% to 30% or below.

Now I get down too 55 to 60% so thx too all of you who posted your results it really helped at least in my case it did.

I don't have an iphone 4s, just an iphone 4 but if you press the home button twice, there will be a bunch of applications (maybe) if you have used a bunch of apps on your iphone, you can hold onto one of the app icon and it should start shaking and would have a round red circle with a white bar in the middle. I don't know what you call that, but just press that and it will force that application to quit.

Do it to all of your apps and your battery life should last longer since there wont be anymore 3rd party apps running in the background. It helps a lot!

Also, download battery app doctor! I turn that on all the time before I charge my iphone and it prolongs my battery life by a ton! Plus the app has a lot of good helpful hints and tips on keeping your iphone's battery to last longer too!

So basically you've taken the "smart" out of smartphone to get it to work. I don't mean to sound so cynnical, but it just seems that everyone in these forums is spending hours trying to find workarounds that apple has been taking nearly 2.5 months trying to address. We should all be concerned with the lasting effects of this bug on our batteries. They have a lifespan (I believe 800 full-cycle charges). No one seems to be concerned with this possibility.

Yes momentarily I am testing it on EDGE only to see the impact. Afterwards I will do the same test with 3G on constantly and see what it gives.

But I don't think EDGE is that much of a problem for only push email and push notifications. It's is only noticeable when you are actively surfing the web and then it's not a biggie to turn on 3G when you want to use it for a longer period of time.

I also heard people having better calling quality when turning 3G off. Specially when they are in a poor 3G region and the phone tries to connect to that poor signal.

About your location icon. It could be the compass calibrating if you have turned that on. I have turned that off, since I have no idea why I need the compass.

Well if you do the math his phone is almost at max spec. Will it be the same in a year, probably not. I think Apple states 80% after 400 cycles is what to expect. But what it may be like in a year is not really relevant today. And with an Apple care plan you can get a replacement battery free when its needed. Rember the spec is up to xxx for each feature. So if he is getting that close to the max stated spec I fail to see what the complaint is.

You know what I had that one time as well std by and usage were the same. And iCloud had the message about the password sitting there. Once I entered that the usage stopped. Apparently it was just pinging the server non stop trying to connect. I am on 5.0.1 not 5.1 beta.

Ok this is my results for today.

Took my iPhone 4s off the charger at 11:15 Hawaii time morning

It's now 8:00pm I'm at 17% I've had the phone on the whole time

Auto lock set too never I've been texting and chatting through Beejive

And playing Zenoia off and on so I think I'm getting **** good battery life.
