iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

I've found that the weak signal thing affecting battery usage is 100% correct...and that if you can get a femtocell from your wireless provider, this is very helpful. Without the Verizon Network Extender going in my house, the battery in my iPhone goes down pretty fast, with the weak cell phone signal. With the Network Extender going, my battery life is as it should be. I believe that AT&T also has a femtocell, not sure about other wireless providers.

It is a little galling, first paying for service (I'm in a "very good" coverage zone for Verizon, according to them), then paying for extending their coverage to make it adequate. At least it's a one-time charge, not a monthly charge.

Anyways, just thought I'd mention this, really helps me.

My usage consists in looking at the clock mostly... sometimes I'll even go as far as doing an unlock gesture and indulging in light UI usage... when doing so I try to limit stress on the device by accessing at most 3 menus a day. I've received some calls yet I resisted the urge to answer - battery life is more important. I plan on charging the device at most 50 times during its life cycle, which will increase resale value... I trained a lot on my Umi de Hakken Tamagotch, which provided the inspiration.

Well, I actually answer my phone, if it's someone I want to talk with *smile*. That's why I have it. And respond to personal text messages, etc. And charge the thing like there's no tomorrow. Sometimes I play games on it, sometimes I use the "TV Guide" app, etc. Resale value is of no concern to me, using my phone is *smile*. I have a meager investment portfolio where I can make some pitiful returns, a phone is a tool that only has value to me when I use it.

Personally, I wouldn't bother to have a phone and pay for wireless service to use it the way that you do, but diversity is the spice of life, each to their own, etc. *smile*.

My iPhone is training for the 2013 Battery Endurance Ironphone challenge in Cupertino. I keep it in a temperature controlled room set at precisely 63.4 Deg F. No one knows my cell phone number so there is little chance that anyone will call or text it. I have no apps, music or video installed and all functions are turned off. I normally keep the phone in airplane mode 24/7 and just to be sure that no signals reach my phone, I keep it in a custom built chamber with 1 foot lead walls. Unfortunately, today I suffered a heart attack and had to pull out the phone to call 911. It was one of the toughest decisions I've ever had to make.

To each his own - I think I would have opened up the phone and put my tongue on the battery contacts before following a course of action which will increase my usage stats. A real shocker. You may find the following quote inspirational in helping you stay on the right track next time:

"Fathered through discipline. Peace through grace. These are the goals demonstrated each year in the Iron Fist tournament. As reigning champion over the past four years, we are honored to host the Iron Fist tournament in Tekken City. Strength through order. That is Tekken."
