Hi Apple Community,
my Mac does not play DVDs (movie dvd s) and ejects them immediately.
I went into system preferences - CDs & DVD - and tried several options such as when you insert a DVD
"OPEN DVD PLAYER",
or
"OPEN QUICK TIME PLAYER", yet the DVDs get ejected without even showing on the dektop.
Any suggestions? Many thanks Josephine

Reset the PRAM > Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
also make sure that the DVDs are clean, free of scratches and paper lables.

Thank you for taking time to answer my question.
I followed the instructions, pressing command, option, P & R before startup ... however unfortunately I still can't play DVDs.
Computer ejects immediately.
(New DVDs, unscratched, no paper lables)
My computer: MAC OS X, Vers 10.6.8, 3.06GHz Intelcore 2 Duo

Make sure CD, DVDs, and iPods is selected in Finder > Preferences - General.
Thanks Carolyn, as stated, that was the first thing I checked. Must be something else ....
PS: When I bought the MAC it did work but got worse and now one year later it stopped working alltogether.
