Apps close right after opening - IOS 5

I upgraded my iPhone 3GS to iOS 5 last night.

When I started using it, I noticed all the apps opened but closed right after.

Downloading a free app made all the others work again.

I'll try that, but it closes even when using Safari.

I have same problem, Ipad 2 applications close almost immediately after opening them. Settings works fine, but that's it. I cannot sync iTunes with a computer because the iPad is the only thing I have. Help??

Ok, tried the "free app" download, but still closes (apps / Safari) in OS 5. So that didn't work. Anyone have any suggestions?

Just left mine for 20 minutes and now it suddenly seems to work. Weird!

Adding a free app worked for me on an IPHONE 4s - this does not, however, satisfy me. Apple technicians need to resolve this clitch, we pay higher costs for Apple products because they are just meant to work, unlike PC's. Apparently this is not the case.

Has anyone recieved any advice from Apple on the likelyhood of resloving this?

BTW - I had my phone turned off and in flight mode for 3 hours and after that, when starting it the problem was resolved for about a similar period of time. Not what I'd call a satisfactory fix.

Hey! The download free app trick worked for me!

I just got off the phone with tech support and they told me to shut down my extra apps (accessed by double tapping the home button) when I'm not using them and turn off the iPad weekly. Up till now I've been getting the apps to start working again by holding down the sleep/wake button and the home button at the same time until the ipad turns off without using the red slide but this is only a temporary fix.

I'm going to start turning off my ipad at night before I go to sleep. This won't be a hastle for me and if this keeps the apps running when I want them to I'll be happy. I'll see how this goes for a week and post an update.
