iOS 5 Bluetooth ford problem

I have a 2011 (UK 11 reg) Ford Mondeo with built in Sony radio with sat nav, Bluetooth and CD. It has been linking fine to my iPhone 4 via Bluetooth both for phone calls and audio as needed running iOS 4. However since upgrading to iOS 5 it won't keeps saying it can't establish data connection, audio breaks up then the phone disconnects intermittently, and the radio no longer displays my phone signal strength which I relied up to know I had a signal.

This is a major pain as I need it to be reliable as it was until recently for work support phone calls. Can anyone please advise how to resolve this? Please don't say take it to my Ford dealer, 1) they will likely have no clue 2) why the **** should I when it's Apple's upgrade which has caused the problem - it was fine before I installed iOS 5.

Same problem with Renault Megane III (2010) - bluetooth worked perfectly until updated to iOS 5.

Now unable to skip backwards, will only go to next track (very annoying) and also experiencing delay between pressing a button and anything happening.

i wish Apple would acknowledge this problem and realise how frustrated people are since the iOS update. If it was possible to revert back to the previous iOS I honestly would. The few new features are a nice addition however they in no way make up for the loss of function of bluetooth.

Please sort it out Apple!

I have just posted the following message:

IOS5 may be responsible for KILLING people!

The IOS 5 update is causing a lot of problems with bluetooth connectivity, and amazingly no one at APPLE has done anything about it.

Please follow this link:

Please be responsible and fix this problem before car accidents happen and people start dying.

I nearly had an accident because of this problem.

Thanks

This lack of feedback by Apple is almost insulting. Especially since we are discussing inside an Apple website forum.

I personally solved my problem via Ford bluetooth software update but still many people are in trouble. What the **** Apple is waiting for??

And I couldn't agree less with one of us saying that Apple just made a technological improvement that impacted a limited amount of people. With the price you pay an iPhone or iPad you should always have the right to be satisfied as a customer, regardless you are a minority with an issue or not.

And concerning Apple technological improvements, I can tell from my direct experience coming from my telco work that Apple is famous for being so arrogant that anything they do the others have to change. Like the present case. Despite of course any customer's problem.

I repeat myself: congratulations Apple. Congratulations for your lack of customer attention that you never pay since you are so great in marketing that people don't even see your limitations...

Cheers,

R.

To all ford owners!!

I have had the exact same problem as many on this issue.

If you have a USB port in your car that connects the iPod to the cars audio system you can update your audio equipment yourself and do NOT need to send it to a main dealer.

On fords web site "ford audio connectivity" (google it) there is a page where you can download a compressed zipped file to a USB stick then connect it to your car USB port.

Though as its a compressed zipped folder that is downloaded it must be extracted first BEFORE your save it on to your USB stick!!

Just above the tab where you click to make the download in the first place there is another tab where you can download a PDF file for the instructions to install the update to your car stereo.

Apple are about as much use as tits on a fish in this matter

Many thanks to ford for this downloadable update.

Ps. I have the focus st 10 plate with the Sony 6000 dab if that helps??!!

P.s.s the only car it will not work with to my knowledge is the ka!!??

Hope that's helped someone??

Can I just point out the irony of this post that slams Apple for being arrogant yet suggests that 254 posts on here, equating to maybe 210 actual users after removing double posts, only a handful of which still are experiencing issues, should be able to direct the activities of the programming arm of a major multi-national company with hundreds of millions of customers worldwide experiencing no issues whatsoever?!!!

Can you imagine a Microsoft product launch/update with only 210 adversely-impacted users!?!?!?

Apple have improved the bluetooth offering in their equipment. Apple are not responsible for other equipment manufacturer's equipment, or the other manufacturer's decision to not bother keeping pace with technological advancements. Bluetooth communication has established protocols and standards as does every single other method of data transfer in the modern age. Updating and revising equipment to use new standards is something that happens - look at wifi 802.11a/b/g/n. Look at TV RF/SCART/Component/HDMI.

Apple work with STANDARDS. They do not go out and buy every variation of car provided in every global market and test it on each one - we would still be waiting for the iPhone 3G if this was how product development worked.

You don't buy a Blu-Ray player then go onto Sony's boards and call them arrogant for ignoring your own personal odd need by not providing an RF out port to connect to your ancient CRT TV - nor do you threaten to contact the national press about the CRT TV you paid £thousands for in 1989 not having been updated to accept an HDMI input.

Apple are CLEARLY ahead of the game and have CLEARLY given Ford plenty of notice as Ford had already put out the update before iOS5 came along. The solution was already in place long before most people on here even started moaning about a problem. Communication of the update could have been better from Ford but I say kudos to Ford and Apple for organising it.
