iOS 5 Bluetooth ford problem

I have a 2011 (UK 11 reg) Ford Mondeo with built in Sony radio with sat nav, Bluetooth and CD. It has been linking fine to my iPhone 4 via Bluetooth both for phone calls and audio as needed running iOS 4. However since upgrading to iOS 5 it won't keeps saying it can't establish data connection, audio breaks up then the phone disconnects intermittently, and the radio no longer displays my phone signal strength which I relied up to know I had a signal.

This is a major pain as I need it to be reliable as it was until recently for work support phone calls. Can anyone please advise how to resolve this? Please don't say take it to my Ford dealer, 1) they will likely have no clue 2) why the **** should I when it's Apple's upgrade which has caused the problem - it was fine before I installed iOS 5.

Yes, the lag is also on mine and is a significant one, mostly when I change the tracks.

Also, I deleted the phonebook (the partial one) and, when I tried to re-install it, surpride: the "Update" button could not be selected.

I had to start both iPhone and Radiosat several times. After update, same problem: contacts only from A to M and few from V.

Is like the buffer of the radiosat is full, but this is impossible, as long as I have only 460 contacts and the book sais 1000 possible contacts into the memory of the car.

Hi All,

Update on the iOS5 Bluetooth problem in Ford's Australia!!

I have taken my car to my Ford Dealership this morning and they have updated the Firmware with the IDS Machine to the new version. Its working well now.. Please note the Notification of BT Audio Error still appers on my Screen but, its something within my Iphone that is causing it. I have tested this with other iPhone 4 (iOS5) operating systems and its working fine.. This Firmware upgrade was done for free as its under warranty.

Good luck all 🙂

I am so glad I saw this discussion literally minutes before I wanted to upgrade my iPhone 4 to iOS5!

I have a 2010 Fiesta purchased in South Africa, but apparently made in Germany. It's Bluetooth system is limited to making calls. Most of the posts in this discussion is about Bluetooth audio streaming that no longer works properly.

My question to the Fiesta/iPhone 4 owners...Is the phone functionality of the Bluetooth system still working properly on iOS5? Can you still make and receive calls? Is the voice dialing feature still working properly? Are you experiencing dropped calls after the update or is the phone disconnecting from the car by it self? Does the phone still automatically bond with the car when starting it?

Your input will be greatly appreciated.

Daniel

I am experiencing the same problem. I have an iPhone 4 recently upgraded with iOS5. My car is a Ford Focus (10 reg) with the Advanced Sat Nav stereo/CD and USB port. I can play music from the iPhone through BT and USB but I get a message "Cannot read data from bluetooth device" everytime the BT is connected. There is also no icon notification of whether the BT device is connected and signal strength icon has disappeared. Also when I use the USB port to stream audio to the stereo, the phone switches to Ford Audio (bluetooth) after 30-60 minutes into a journey - I can find no reason to trigger this but it happens on a daily basis during my commute.

Called into Ford dealer this morning (Fiesta 2010) about this issue. To my surprise they were aware that there are firmware updates available. They need to hook up to the IDS machine (as others have said) and update. Have arranged this for next week when car will also be serviced. Will report back, but am confident that Ford have a fix for this from the sound of it. Interesting that apparently Ford customers in the US can update the software in their car themselves via syncmyride.com website. I wonder if the European versions are the same?

Kylienic, do you have a SYNC-based system, or the older kind? I don't know the exact type/model of my system (in the manual it's called "CD-Navigation System"; I've got satnav, SD-card, BT, but no touchscreen).

AFAIK the SYNC-System is based on Microsoft software, but updating the software on a "traditional" system might not be so easy, I could imagine.

I'm asking because I'd like to collect as many details as possible before contacting my dealer again about this - ideally about someone who has the exact same system as I have and had a successful upgrade.

TIA,

My error is really a peculiar one. After upgrading to iOS5, when I just start the card and stereo, bith phone and music, it works even better - both phone and music (i have Ford Mondeo) for about 15 minutes, and then just the whole thing (music, phone...) everything goes "mute". I cannot use it anymore at all.

The connection to bluetooth is fine, the display on the stereo shows no signs of error, it's just that it it mute.

Then I have to turn the whole car off, wait for a while and then it works again.

I Have a Renault Megane (2010)

After upgrading to iOS5, I'm unable to select the previous song, just the next one, when my GPS beep me, about traffic cameras, the music stops for a few seconds, and sometimes don't start.

If I answer a phone call the music stops, and don't come back again, and the phone call number is not being displayed on my car.

And everything were wrorking just fine before this.

Does anyone knows if Apple is going to fix this?

Hi all

Just to report my 60 plate ford focus was in the dealership today and they kindly updated the software on the stereo system and...still doesn't work properly with ios5 iPhone connected via bluetooth. exactly the same as before ford updated the software. I get 20 minutes connected max and then have to turn off the stereo and turn off bluetooth on the phone then turn both back on. If I get a phone call at any time the only way to fix the subsiquent total stereo lock out is to pull over and turn off the engine

ios4 was no problem at all

ios5 so far is a disaster

The mentioned SatNav by fbitterlich is in fact a Blaupunkt Travelpilot (EX or DX). Updates to those GPS systems need to be done by an official dealer. Updates aren't released frequently, so it might take a while before an update that fixes this issue becomes available.

If it was possible I would downgrade right back to 4.3.5, everything was working fine in that version. I can live without all the iOS 5 enhancements because I need to be sure that my phone works without issues when I'm driving. Pulling over and turn off the engine might be a workaround to "solve" the issue, but that's kind of difficult when you're on a highway...

I too am having the same BT problems with Audio & Phone under IOS 5.

I took my 2010 Mondeo into the Ford dealer to have the software updated and was eventually informed that all the software modules were already at the latest versions.

It would seem therefore that my Iphone 4S is absolutely useless whilst I am driving and the £54 I spent on fitting a Brodit Iphone holder is money down the drain.

I had an Iphone 4 running IOS 4 which worked perfectly, unfortunately, I upgraded that to IOS 5, so I can't even go back to using that.

I agree that it is not Ford's problem, Apple should at least have the decency to acknowledge the problem and give assurances that it will be addressed in due course.
